No fish in water

Because there are no fish in the game

Well, you can fish the with a fishing pole. But you don't see them swimming in the water

There are no rivers in rising world. Did you make it from salt water maybe?

Do you fish anything at all?

When I fish, I don't only think of fish, but you could also pull other things out of the water with a magnet or hook. So old tires or coins, even a boot would work.

Your river is too shallow. It should be 4 steps deep from the surface down (with the grid). Then the fish will also bite.

Only requirement for fishing is that the water has a depth of at least 3 blocks. The deeper the water, the better.

Having baits (earthworms) in your inventory also greatly reduces the time it takes to catch a fish.

In addition to that, the weather and time of day plays a role (there is a higher chance to catch fish in the morning [between 7 and 10 am] and evening [between 7 and 8 pm] and while it's raining).
