Upgraded World Generation - Adding villages, cities, NPC´s

  • Hello there.

    I am a great fan of this type of game and Rising world itself. It got me surprised and made me feel like found the exact game that i was looking for.

    Sincerelly, the game is fantastic, details, "weight" (by not running just on high end machines, like so many other games), and much more things.

    Since theres a huge area for this game to grow, i want to suggest a great thing. I like to watch animes and their huge types, specially the Fantasy ones, when you find basicly many other animes with the same theme - fantasy world where the character comes to be tested and try to survive. On a world where he have to get resources, build a house, hunt, plant, explore the world in game AND do QUESTS.

    An world where he have to find places where there´s quests to be done, with various rewards, since money, to special stuff like armours, weapons and more. Also have ways to get special or extra quests from random people (Npc´s) that asks for simple or difficult missions.

    SOOOO

    I want to sugegst the developers to engage on this idea, please, and make the game great, much more. Random worlds running with many options of villages, cities, big or small, with small cabins or big castles and their villagers, mayors or kings.

    So, please, try to make this game to generate random worlds, as it usually does, but add this: Creating random cities with random sizes, for big cities, any kind of castle with their specific npcs, where we (players) can get many missions / quests to be done, and also this will let the game get a really huge hype and best rate on the web.

  • The problem with your suggestion is that Rising World isn't just a fantasy / medieval / Old World themed game, It's more of a create your own adventure sandbox. It's much better to be given the tools (customizable NPCs), etc. so we have the ability to build our own towns, etc. that fit the theme of the world we're playing on. Sure a lot of worlds people create are more old world / fantasy themed, but there are also plenty of regional, modern, futuristic, etc. worlds that people create as well fantasy / old world objects, etc. wouldn't fit in.

    Red51 has done well to keep it as neutral as possible by giving so many different options and that's one of the things that really stands out about the game and it'd be a shame for that to be diluted / lost.

    Now with all that said, I do think this is one area where mods / plug-ins could be a great option. That could be a way to add village, etc. generation into a specific world. For example there could be a set of mods / plug-ins that when you create a specified world type it auto generates a fantasy village, or a modern one, etc. That way it maintains the open create your own sandbox of the base game, but also gives options for those that want to discover auto generated villages, etc.

  • I see. The idea wasn´t to block the game on a old or fantasy / medieval model, just as idea i have told about those anime models as an example. The worlds would be nioce with any random village with npcs to interact getting quests or something, also letting you grow with levels or something else

  • I do agree 100% with Cursed. This 'game' is more a framework to build your own game. You got the basics and the game itself is playable but it's the creativity of the serverowners, mod-developers and members that makes you create an entire new world with it's own rules. It could be a fantasy, (even) prehistoric or a futuristic world, etc... The objects in this base game has to be seen as placeholders. Wat really counts is the underlying mechanics and the possibility to freely create the necessary mods for it.


    A lot of people ask for additions, represented by certain objects. For example movebable structures and certain mechanics. On one of the RW servers I already saw a 'working' windmill; well the wind blades were moving but it didn't connected to something (yet). With the progression of RW to version 1.0 and beyond more will come. Patience is key and a good virtue ;)


    This is in short how i see this game. And that's the big difference with traditional games. The only thing i wish is that people try to "forget" Minecraft or better stopping refering to other games for ideas or what things have to be in the game. It's not a predefined game, not a platform game, not a game with a story ... thankfully. And yet it's all that, depending on your own imagination :D

  • maybe camps would be the way to go. barbs and bandits have small camps and low number over time their camp grows to a village. raid for loot. this still has the issues of of play style and time period. maybe some type of ruins would be better.

  • thats the kind of idea i had. Some things (ideas) from other games like minecraft. You have an entire world to explore, build, or anything else you want to do. For sure, the game is all that you all said and feel, but i still have in mind that will be much more fantastic that it is allready, basicly the idea/sugegstion is to prevent gamers/players get bored by do the "same" all the time. Many people, like us, do the same. Start the game, build the basics, grow, upgrade all the workbenches, buildings and many other things, armours, weapons, tools, and more, and when its all done, what more they can / will do? I see many games like this, minecraft, unturned and many more games that have the same limit (if i can call like this). We have many types of players, and many of them is the type that play like doing a SPEEDRUN. They start to play, run everywhere and anywhere, get all the stuff and works a lot for a long time. And when its all done, they start to get bored by have nothing more to do, and they start to leave the servers where they have been playing for a long time, and so, servers get an "exodus" by leaving them and comming back less times, or else, never getting back again. This is the point where i am trying to explain. I know the work is very big and cannot prevent the "exodus" but this can make them stay for much more time than usual. I know because i have been playing on many games like this one, last one was unturned where i was an admin, and when seeing this problem, i have choosed a way to prevent this - Makeing "games" inside our servers. Games like race sports, using all the potential of the mods in use, we did many parties, like building competitions, treasure hunt events, decathlon races (10 types of races in one), Secret doors races (fun games with locked or dangerous rooms doors when getting inside that room, the correct choices lead the player to a special gift, and much more. That was the way that i found to make our server (on that case, Araxis Servers, death for now, by the owner letting it to live his adult life), popular and fun for everyone who came to join us. They never find just another server with mods, like many other servers. They allways found the fun included on this place. And this is what i wish for the servers who run this game and let us enjoy it, we allways like to build our simple or incredible buildings, and those who loves to do it, allways enjoy the feeling, but, there are many other types that dont really love to spend hours and hours building a house, so, they work on a basic place, and starts to play the game. This is the commom way of many players. I dont know how is the work to make any of these things, if you decide to do any of those, but i really like to help by anyway if you decide to do it. I know it will be great, much more than it is now.

    Since you mentioned it at the bottom of your post I just wanted to say that you English was very good and it was easily read without any confusion.

    Just for your own learning, already and always only have one l, not two. Coming is only one M, Making doesn't have an E in it, and basically not basicly.
