play with friends or dedicated server? whats the connection speed? do they have high ping. is are players flying around when it happens? are they using any type of portals when it happens?

  • I have the same problem he. It's a play whit friends server. Only the admin doesn' t have unloaded chunks. The players do have if they walk away from there spawn point. Some chunks are loaded, but other ones have no grass and are not fully loaded and some are just void. If they walk in it, there stuck. My internet is wireless and it was 2.4 GHz, Players have norml ping just around the 12.

It's not whit the firewall, I turned it iff but nothing happends

being on wireless could be the issue. slow internet speeds can cause alot of sync issues.

  • Does it only happen with modified chunks, i.e. if you keep digging a hole there, for example, or also with unmodified chunks (i.e. even if you don't touch anything, some chunks will still not load)?

Missing chunks are indeed directly related to the connection... if there is too much packet loss, it could result in certain chunk data never reaching the player. But Steam P2P also tends to cause trouble in general... unfortunately it isn't made for sending lots of data like in RW... also it depends on which Steam relay server is used, some relay servers are really bad unfortunately...

Once your friend experiences an unloaded chunk, please enter the networkstats console command. After doing that, it would be nice if both you and your friend could send a report (enter report into console - maybe add some brief information like "missing chunks" etc) :)

Alternatively you could also try to host a classic LAN game instead of using Steam's P2P - usually it provides better performance, but is a bit more difficult to set up. It requires you to forward the necessary port in your router (otherwise your session will not be accessible from the internet).

If you want to give this a try, you first have to forward port 4255 TCP and UDP in your router. Then in the singleplayer menu, select a world, then rightclick on the green "Play with Friends" button and select "Play via LAN" in the context menu.

After loading the game, your friend has to join your game though your public IP. To find out your public IP, you can visit this page, for example: https://myip.is/

Your friend then has to go to the Multiplayer tab, hit the "Connect to IP" button and enter your IP to join your game.
