I have found that corn sometimes grows on a tilt. I first thought it was due to uneven ground, but I have flattened the area completely in this area. Corn seems to be the only plant that does this. (Though melons and pumpkins get wonky if on a slope.)
But not all the corn does it, just a section of the whole field. All flat ground and the seedlings were planted on a 1x grid.
maybe u rotated the seeds? if it is, press backspace. I guess u know that arl:)
Cotton does it too. Here in the flat area where it's laying flat and on the slope. This is a place where I raised the garden bed to level it out. So it seems like changing the level of the ground is a problem for some of the plants. It doesn't bother others though.

It's just getting in some practice for it's eventual life as a blanket.... lol 
Did you raise the garden bed with the rake or did you manually place the dirt?
To level the ground I right clicked with the hoe. Works same as rake, I think.
If you used the hoe and right clicked with the corn and the other crops that you mentioned about having issues with before like you did with the cotton then maybe try redoing those areas with the rake instead of using the hoe to level the terrain and then see if the plants still grow weird. That way it could help narrow it down to a problem with just the hoe or a problem with the terrain modification mechanics.
i was having this issue with potatoes, and at least in my case it seemed to be due to the ground not being perfectly flat, but i spoke to red about it so he is looking into it!
There is something that causes the seedlngs/seeds to rotate and twist. Very annoying.
But, to correct, press Backspace and it will orient the plant you are holding to the correct up-ness.
I thought it was because of my PS5 controller but even without using it, plants still get 'bent'. Sometimes they bury themselves.
huh, weird. I just went through and replanted all of my crops yesterday and didn't have a single issue with any of them.
