Update 0.9.2: Animal Breeding, Item Placement, better Controller Support [EN]

A new update (0.9.2) is available now!
Latest Hotfix: 0.9.2.1 (2026-05-12)
  • - Placed items are mainly used for decoration, and should not take back as easily than a dropped non-peristent item. It could be better if we should hold use key rather than to do a short push (same mechanism as for workbenches).

Hmm... yes, that's a good point. Maybe holding F is a better solution for this (or having to press F twice or something like that). I will think about it.

Yes, but why? Actually, the green loading bar when placing an apple already bothers me. Picking it up, on the other hand, feels smooth and easy. Just like a simple pick-up should feel. But when placing it, it feels like I have to exert a lot of force and like I'm having physical difficulty putting the carrot in the feed trough. Yesterday, I only filled one feed trough with carrots and sugar beets. And that took a really long time. A bit too long for a simple task. Everyday objects and food shouldn't feel like a major move is imminent.

Um, while writing this, it just occurred to me that it would also be good if you could place a whole stack at once. Like placing 16 carrots at once. And maybe the placement position (like when placing flowers) could also be randomized.

Also 16 Karotten auf einmal ablegen. Und vielleicht noch das, die ablege Position (wie beim Blumen platzieren) auch random funktioniert.

  • To clarify, does the breeding cooldown only trigger on successful breeding or every time (if fails, do we have to still wait that hour for a retry)? And does the female's cooldown start after breeding or after giving birth?

It only triggers on successful breeding ;) Otherwise there is just a minor cooldown (1 minute or so).

On a separate note, I didn't realize just how crazy cows were - 60 milk buckets an hour lol XD I thought it would be more like 1-2 buckets a default day so I would need a herd for tons of milk. Guess I just need dear ol' Bessie. I'll probably swap to goats /sheep for milk balance if they produce less once they are milkable, so I can have a herd feel "useful".

Yeah, maybe it's a bit too much... I will change that a bit with the next hotfix :D

I tested it quickly (on Medieval Realms), since I know how to reproduce it.

Oh, thanks for the update! I think I have an idea what's causing this... I will try to prepare a hotfix for that, but it might still take 1-2 days until it's ready :/

Another new little issue: "gridsize" command don't work when we try to place objects.

Oh, thanks for letting me know! With objects you probably mean items? At least I can confirm that it doesn't work for items :saint:

Basically this was done to prevent accidental item placement ^^ Maybe we could reduce the time required to place them... I agree that it's a bit too time-consuming when placing lots of items... but as a workaround you could switch to creative mode, then you should be able to place them instantly.

Basically it would be helpful to place entire stacks, but unfortunately we don't have a different model for that yet (so a stack of carrots would still be displayed as a single carrot)... it would require us to create separate models for item stacks, but that's a bit time consuming due to the amount of different items in the game :silenced:

But being able to randomize their rotation would be really useful, I will add this to my to-do list ;)

  • We've just released another small hotfix btw ^^ It should now fully fix the blue screen issue some users were experiencing. But we've also fixed a few other issues (for example, it took a long time until animals got pregnant in singleplayer).

This update is optional for multiplayer servers (but it's still recommended to install it).

    Hotfix (2026-05-02):

    • [Change] Increased milking interval for cows
    • [Bugfix] Fixed multiplayer group invite not working correctly
    • [Bugfix] Fixed color picker losing all favorite colors
    • [Bugfix] Fixed animals taking a long time to get pregnant in singleplayer
    • [Bugfix] Fixed brief blue screen when launching the game (not to be confused with a BSoD)
    • [Bugfix] Fixed item tooltips in inventory having an incorrect position on some resolutions
    • [Bugfix] Fixed 3d world markers having a wrong position on some resolutions
  • Oh, thanks for the update! I think I have an idea what's causing this... I will try to prepare a hotfix for that, but it might still take 1-2 days until it's ready :/

Nice to know you find a possible solution!

Maybe this will fix too other bug related to crafting station where sometimes objects from inside become invisible, like put some meat/fish on a drying rack and after relog they become invisible. I see same thing to furnace too for example, or oven. This is a old bug who apparently previously update (0.9.1) fixed, but he come back after last update.

    BTW:

After last hotfix no blue screen at start of game! Start now with a black screen followed by logo and main menu.

Oh, yes, this is most likely related (because these items are handled in a similar way when spawning them) :monocle:

I'm glad to hear that, thanks for letting me know!

    • Sheep pregnancy does not result in lambs (tested over 10 times with different ewes; they lay down and get up, but no lambs born), but pigs/goats/cattle/horses work. Is this intentional (not yet added) or a bug?
    • Only calves are maturing to adult, the rest of the animal babies do not. Is this intentional or a bug?
    • Newborn to juvenile (all animals) and juvenile to adult (cattle only) age-up seems to be triggered by logging in/out of the game, but does not occur while in-game.
    • How long are animals pregnant for?
    • How close in proximity does a male and female have to be to breed? Want to make sure my pens aren't too big.
  • red51, a while back, both before previous update and after previous update, I had sent a couple of game reports where the game would crash if I picked an apple, pumpkin, cut plants or dig in and under ground in a certain area (chunks) outside my main compound.

I am happy to report that after this new update that problem no longer seems to exist, don't know why it happened before but whatever you did fixed it. Thank you.:)

  • The addition of new animations is fantastic. I’m sure even more will be included in future updates. Thank you!

Thanks :) Yes, more animations will definitely come in the future^^

Hmm... unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce it (at least in single player) :wat: Do they still have a big belly (i.e are they still pregnant) after getting up? The thing is that there are other factors that might cause a pregnant animal to get up again (e.g. if you destroy nearby structures, for example).

Only calves are maturing to adult, the rest of the animal babies do not. Is this intentional or a bug?

They should still mature, but in general, it takes a very long time (for almost all baby animals). It takes roughly 20 hours.

Newborn to juvenile (all animals) and juvenile to adult (cattle only) age-up seems to be triggered by logging in/out of the game, but does not occur while in-game.

Logging in or out can indeed trigger this, but in general, they age up relatively quickly (mostly within 1 hour) ^^

How long are animals pregnant for?

    Around 5-6 hours.

How close in proximity does a male and female have to be to breed? Want to make sure my pens aren't too big.

It was 16 blocks originally but I've increased the range to 32 with the recent hotfix. Maybe we'll still adjust this a little bit (because 32 might be a bit too much) :saint:

Yeah, thanks for sending the reports back then! :) It was indeed an issue that was caused when calculating plant gravity (i.e to determine if a plant still has contact with the ground). I'm glad to hear the fix is apparently working, however, if you still experience any crashes, please let me know ^^

  • Some odd problems

First the send report is gone.

Second, three of us are are having FMOD errors. Video and sound, mine is so bad it locks up the game.

Third when I spawn an unicorn it will not stay even with saddle. It glides and then canters then glides!

  • Hello Red! Thanks for the update, as always everything is great! I ran into a bug like this, I couldn't plant tree seedlings, they weren't displayed. And it just got on the video. 47:10

    The bug report was sent.

Привет Red! Спасибо за обновление, как всегда всё супер! Столкнулся с таким вот багом, не мог посадить саженцы деревьев, они не отображались. И это как раз попало на видео. 47:10

    багрепорт отправил.

  • Hello Red! Please add a backpack to the game so that you can expand your inventory, using the example of how it works with a tool belt. Thanks!

Привет Red! Добавь пожалуйста в игру рюкзак, чтобы была возможность расширить инвентарь, на примере как это работает с поясом для инструментов. Спасибо!

  • And changing their size is fun.I believe its enough testing for today for me...Time to actually play the game with these new functions. Now where do I find a pig

OH SNAP! People just turned Rising World into a studio for hentai/furry art...

Be proud of your work, Red, you just created monsters!!! *drama music plays*

  • First the send report is gone.

It should still be there (it's in the ESC menu in the lower right corner) :wat: Do you mind posting a screenshot of your ESC menu?

But alternatively you can also open the console (key ~ or `) and type report ;)

Second, three of us are are having FMOD errors. Video and sound, mine is so bad it locks up the game.

What FMOD errors do you get exactly? Maybe create a separate topic about that, so it's a bit easier to take a closer look at that :)

Third when I spawn an unicorn it will not stay even with saddle. It glides and then canters then glides!

Hmm... unfortunately I couldn't reproduce this... does that happen in singleplayer or multiplayer? Maybe a report could provide more information about what's going on there.

Thanks for the video and the report! :) It seems that the manual placement was active for the sapling... unfortunately the game provides no information about that when placing saplings (unlike the block place tool), but maybe try to press the right CTRL key (or change manual positioning from the building menu [C]) and see if it works then.

This explains the delay: Scope creep

    I can't deny that :drunk:

Hello Red! Please add a backpack to the game so that you can expand your inventory, using the example of how it works with a tool belt. Thanks!

There had been considerations for that in the past, but unfortunately I can't say much about it yet... but we still want to update the example plugins for the new version (which included a backpack plugin) ^^
