I wish the bugs in my RW game were butterflies.

  • I'm reasonably sure my problem is a variation on the theme of the OpenGL bug I've seen reported here, but...


    I'm playing the game through Steam on Ubuntu (16.04, upgraded to latest) using an Nvidia video card.


    Like the Windows user in another thread (which has been marked 'done,') the game crashes randomly after so much playtime.


    Unlike him, it's not just the game. I have to hard-reset my computer.


    I've tried updating all drivers, etc. The issue persists.


    There was a recentish login-loop issue involving Ubuntu and nvidia; I had to apply the fix for this.


    Needless to say, this situation discourages me from playing.

  • You're talking about bugs. Logfiles? You didn't tell any accurate Hardware information.
    Game crashes after long playtime. Pc overheated?
    Sry about that, but this doesn't look like a really Rising World problem.

  • If the game crashes, please have a look if there is a file called "errorlog" or "hs_err_pid" in your game directory ;) If there is such a file, please upload it here. These files contain further information about what's going on exactly.

  • Unlike that other thread, when my game fails, it takes the whole computer with it. My screen is black til I hard-reset. This has happened to me a few times since the date included as part of that last post, yet there are no logs because of what I had to do to get my computer back.


    All I can tell you is, the sound keeps playing while the screen is black. The issue isn't monitor/videocard only, because I try things like alt-f4, and nothing has any effect I can perceive.


    That error log is from last year! There's no way it's a log of this problem. But it's the errorlog I have, and might help since it includes my specs.

  • Thanks for the log, but yeah, as you mentioned, it's from last year and not really related to this issue. One thing you could do to get a more recent log: start the game, open the ingame console (key ^ or ` or ~, depending on your keyboard language) and type "report" (without quot. marks), then a file called "report" will appear in your game directory. Please upload it or post the content here ;)
    However, if the error only occurs after playing for a given amount of time (and if restarting the computer is the only thing that helps), this sounds more like a different issue. It could be either a temperature issue, or a driver issue. Make sure you download and install the latest driver from the NVIDIA homepage: http://www.nvidia.com/download…Results.aspx/114708/en-us
