when you load the game does it have a red symbol on the right top because that indicates that you have no connection to the HIVE. As long as you have no connection, you can't connect to multiplayer servers which require a HIVE verification ?
We already know, thanks to the power of the command line, that "HIVE is not reachable, using offline mode..."
Here is a screenshot of what I see:
Hang on. Need to compress main menu.
Here is a compressed jpg
The output from the command line also tells us it's not even attempting to log in.
ie "skip registration/login"

Maybe it was your registration that went wrong after all lol or its been blocked by something going on with your pc, The hive seems fine for everyone else, are you able to log onto any other computer and download the game with steam then test it ? or maybe save your error files, then delete the game and reinstall it.
Nah mate it's not that simple (I wish it were). Once again, my install is solid. I've already checked integrity of game (although that wouldn't confirm anything anyway given the issues I have - it's in a different realm TCP/IP stack and the OSI model is nothing to do with the files themselves but I digress). What are the "error files"? There is no "error" but I can look for those files. A far more comprehensive overview can be found on /var/log/messages which show nothing.
I think this is a Red51 thing ![]()

Have a look in your RisingWorld folder you might have errorlog files in there
Yes i still think red51 is the man you need, but you never know what we might find if we poke around lol
Nah man nothing there, because there is no "error". The entire loading process went fine.. it parsed everything with the usual odd warnings (nothing to do with networking - oftentimes normal in java) and put me at the main screen ready to play. Except of course there is no people for me to connect with.

thats cool sometimes an error log is made even when everything seems fine, so always worth looking ![]()
Can i ask what your steam username is ?
Your client isn't able to connect to the HIVE server (it results in a time out), that's why the game skips registration/login
Unfortunately it's difficult to tell what's going on there exactly. Obviously you can ping the HIVE server and also send queries via HTTPS (i.e. you can query the server list), but for some reason you run into a timeout when trying to connect to the HIVE...
It's also strange that you cannot query the servers in the server browser, instead you get a timeout for most (all?) servers
Contrary to the serverlist query, the individual server queries just use HTTP instead of HTTPS. Maybe something blocks the connection. Although this issue isn't necessarily related to the original problem, since the individual server list queries have a very strict timeout (1000ms).
Is there maybe something blocking or using the HIVE port (6001)? Or anything else that blocks Java?
Yep, exactly, that's a given. But I don't understand how servers are showing when I try multiplayer.. it's difficult to determine because of limited returns.. are servers routed via hive? I'm guessing not because otherwise nothing would show.

Oh and nothing's blocking Java because minecraft works ![]()
Let me know any information required and I can provide it.
The extra layer of steam makes things hard to figure out (from my point of view at least heh)
any luck on that yet? my first thought would be to do a update on java my game did this the first time tooo

It's well and truly up to date but thanks ![]()
I'm progressing though - if I exclude routing from the vpn (ie go direct) I get a screen asking to sign up. Not sure why this has a bearing on things though, but it seems to.
Gonna look into it further because it can't be that simple.
This is what I now get:
As I already have an account here let's see how things go.
