Latest hotfix: 0.9 (2025-11-05)

    It was really about time to update the old trailer :D The first one is indeed more or less a "remake" of the old trailer (same music and similar scenes). But as @zfoxfire mentioned, we will update the trailer (or create a new one) once the new player models are ready. I like the idea of having a diving scene, showcasing an underwater dungeon!

    I'm sorry to hear that it still does not work :/ I just realized that you only sent me a server log yesterday, can you maybe also send me a client log (either a mp_error file, or alternatively the debug console output, as mentioned above)? Maybe it contains some more information about what was going on exactly (since it's definitely a client-side issue).
    It may be indeed Windows fault, e.g. a winsocket malconfiguration. But in this case, there will be an according error message (so I guess a log will shed some light on this) ;)

    It's not necessarily the fault of the ISP, but it may be possible. But if you can't connect to other servers, it's most likely not a server-side issue (so it's either a security program interfering with the connection, an unstable internet connection [too much traffic caused by other devices or background programs, or unstable WLAN connection etc], or the ISP is having technical problems) :/

    Hmm... that's really strange :huh: Maybe try to remove your phone from your WLAN, just to make sure it's not interfering with the connection... but if the browser games are also loading slowly, it might be caused by the ISP eventually (maybe he's having some technical issue right now).

    Thanks for the log! The error indicates that the connection was closed by the server: the server received a packet from an unconnected endpoint (more precisely, the endpoint was connected previously, but lost connection apparently), so it sent a TCP RST packet to close the connection.
    There are various reasons which may cause such an error. In most cases it's caused by antivirus programs or firewalls which interfere with the connection. It may also be caused by connection problems in general (especially when using WLAN), or by a high amount of traffic (i.e. when there are background programs updating etc).
    Did you make any changes to your machine recently? E.g. new security software, Windows update, new ISP or new router etc?


    However, if other players suddenly suffer from the same issue when playing on this server, it's most likely a server problem.

    @ArcticuKitsu: What socket error do you get exactly? Can you maybe post the full error message here? If you just get an ingame dialog, check out your game directory if there is an "mp_error" file. If there is no such file, please enable the debug console (set game_debug_console to true in the config.properties file), join the server until you get the socket error, then upload the latest log file here (which can be found in the "Logs" folder in your game dir) ;)

    Zugegebenermaßen wäre das Plugin aber tatsächlich wohl die beste Lösung ;) Momentan ist es zumindest nicht geplant, die Dauer von Tag und Nacht separat einzustellen, vielleicht kommt das aber in Zukunft noch.

    Ob es wohl auch möglich ist, eine Spielerfigur mit einer kleinen Plauze zu erstellen? (kein Sixpack, sondern ein Onepack! )

    Hehe, stimmt schon, warum ein Sixpack wenn man ein ganzes Fass haben kann :D Langfristig ist es auf jeden Fall unsere Intention, die Figuren auch dünner oder dicker zu machen, beim ersten Release wird das aber wohl noch nicht möglich sein...


    Der nächste kommt dann mit Super-Bizeps, der andere will Monster Oberweite für Frauen.

    Also der Idealfall wäre, dass Spieler tatsächlich die Proportionen der Figur ändern könnten (natürlich nur bis zu einem bestimmten Grad, damit MP Server von komplett verunstalteten Figuren verschont bleiben^^). Das ist aber momentan noch Zukunftsmusik ^^


    Gib es außer Personen und Survival auch mal wieder ein Bau-Upgrade?

    Auf jeden Fall, das überarbeitete Bausystem spukt schon seit einiger Zeit durch den Sourcecode und wartet auf seine Fertigstellung. Nach der Spielerfigur finden wir bestimmt etwas Zeit, daran weiterzuarbeiten.


    Hoffe doch sehr, das man auch die Bärte verändern kann, so eine Dame mit Bart, würde der Deidre bestimmt gut stehen *gg

    Es gibt sogar eine ganze Auswahl an Bärten, die allerdings momentan der männlichen Spielerfigur vorbehalten sind. Über die API wird es mittelfristig aber auch möglich sein, das Aussehen der Figuren zu ändern, dann wäre theoretisch auch ein ästhetischer Damen-Vollbart möglich :whistling:

    When you run it has to really feel like running. Not sure how you view 2-3x speed, yet something that's simply 'twice as fast' as the running speed we currently have that's more like fast walking. It's
    making me curse with how slow it is.

    Well, once the player models are fully working we have to adjust the run speed anyway :D I'm sure we will find an appropriate run speed in the medium run.

    Question: it appears that there is a miners helmet with mounted light on one model? Is that a working lamp? (silly question, I'm sure it is, but gotta ask).

    Yes, it's a working lamp. It will be a replacement for the current "L" debug light (which will be hopefully removed soon [although it will still be available in creative mode]), so you don't have to hold a lamp in your hands anymore ;)


    Question: will we have any magic casters in game, or we it be strictly true to RL? I don't really expect it, just curious. Medieval areas had their soothsayers and such, while not true magic casters they had their 'auras'. And kings had their advisers.

    Well, I'm not sure if there will be magic casters in the game... monsters are planned for the hell and dungeons, maybe there might be some magical stuff or magic casters then. Can't say for sure ^^


    Can i still play as the chubby bald guy? you know, for nostalgias sake?

    Hehe, unfortunately that's not possible^^ Maybe we re-rig the old character when we have a lot of spare time, just for fun, but right now we have no plans for that. But maybe there will be other ways to pay homage to the bald guy :D


    Not sure if you're focusing too heavily on hair styles or not, but for when you do here's some hair styles you could look into for added customization for the female side

    Actually we were more focusing on different clothes than on hair styles ;) There won't be so many different hair styles in the initial release, but more hair styles (and more clothes) will be dded in the future.
    We also have to find a convenient way to add new hair styles etc. to the game via the API.


    I requested a new stone statue instead. I hope he follows through

    Oh yes, there will be at least a few glasses. Once the player models are available, we are open for suggestions about new clothes, hair styles, glasses, hats, suits etc (especially glasses and hats don't need rigging, so they're easy to create).

    Hehe, wobei wir den Eierkopf (die jetzige Spielerfigur) mit Sicherheit als Statue o.ä. verewigen werden ;) Und aus Solidaritätsgründen kannst du ja auch mit den neuen Spielerfiguren grundsätzlich mit einer Glatze rumlaufen^^

    Das mit den Waffen lässt dann wieder die Frage aufkommen, was passiert mit den Tieren die jetzt von den Jägern getötet werden.
    Wird dann da irgendwann eine Nachspawnrate oder etwas ähnliches eingeführt?

    Im Grunde ist das ja die selbe Situation als wie wenn die Tiere mit Schwertern oder der Spitzhacke getötet werden. Mit dem Update wird sich am Spawnverhalten der Tiere erstmal nichts ändern, wobei das mittelfristig auf jeden Fall noch geändert wird.


    Wie sieht eigentlich Verteilung der Tiere prozentual in einem bestimmten Gebiet / Biom aus?

    Im Grunde hat jedes Biom eine eigene "Tierhäufigkeit", wobei die Unterschiede zw. den Biomen nicht all zu gravierend sind. Am wenigsten Tiere treten in der Wüste und im Schneegebiet auf, am meisten Tiere in Wäldern und vor allem in der Savanne.

    Question -- will the models we make for ourselves be permanent, or will they be modifiable afterwards, too?

    You can always change the appearance of your character ;) Clothes can be changed at any time, but if you want to change you "base appearance" (e.g. skin color, hair color, gender etc), you have to disconnect from the server and go to the "Profile" tab in the main menu.


    Question : will we see our hands after that upgrade ?

    Oh yes! Although the first person animations are still causing trouble, so maybe we will just see a temporary solution for that in the initial release

    Do hope you speed up running to 2-3x the speed when holding shift

    2-3x ? I agree that speeding up the max running speed makes sense, but I'm afraid that 2-3x might be too much =O

    Hi folks! We are happy to present the first screenshots of the upcoming player models. All models and animations were made from scratch.



    We have prepared a male and a female character as well as lots of different clothes (medieval and modern ones). The models will be customizable, i.e. you can change your skin color, haircut, facial hair etc.
    The upcoming update will also introduce several new items, including new tools and ranged weapons like bows and a musket.



    But the most important aspect will be the fact that this update will serve as a foundation for several future survival features, which will be added in subsequent updates.



    The models still need some adjustment, especially when it comes to the animation part. We also have to rework some of the ingame mechanics in order to handle the new player models properly (e.g. proper syncing of the customized characters in multiplayer, ability to change clothes, armor etc). We can't say for sure when the update will be ready, hopefully it won't take too long, but we try to get it ready as soon as possible.


    Maybe we will split this big update into several smaller updates.



    Last but not least we also want to announce that our stats page is practically finished. This page gives you an overview of the various multiplayer servers, i.e. amount of online players, average player count etc. Server owners are able to customize their server overview page (e.g. add a custom description, custom screenshots etc) by adding their name as "webadmin" in the server.properties file.

    Hallo Leute! Wir freuen uns die ersten Screenshots der kommenden Spielermodelle zu präsentieren. Alle Modelle und Animationen wurden von Grund auf neu erstellt.



    Wir haben eine männliche und weibliche Spielerfigur vorbereitet sowie viele verschiedene Kleidungsstücke. Die Figuren werden anpassbar sein, d.h. es kann die Haut- und Haarfarbe, Frisur, Gesichtsbehaarung usw. geändert werden.
    Das kommende Update wird außerdem mehrere neue Items einführen, unter anderem neue Werkzeuge und Fernkampfwaffen, wie zB Bögen und eine Muskete.



    Der wichtigste Aspekt jedoch wird die Tatsache sein, dass dieses Update als Fundament für mehrere künftige Survival Features dienen wird, welche in den nachfolgenden Updates implementiert werden.



    Die Modelle benötigen immernoch etwas Anpassung, besonders wenn es um die Animationen geht. Wir müssen zudem einige der Spielmechaniken umschreiben, damit diese die neuen Spielermodelle berücksichtigen und korrekt damit umgehen (u.a. korrekte Synchronisierung des Aussehens im Multiplayer, die Möglichkeit sich umzuziehen, Rüstungen anzulegen etc).
    Wir können nicht genau sagen, wann das Update verfügbar sein wird, hoffentlich dauert es aber nicht mehr all zu lange. Wir versuchen, das Update so schnell wie möglich zu veröffentlichen.


    Eventuell wird das Update aufgrund seines enormen Umfangs auf mehrere Updates aufgesplittet.



    Zum Schluss möchten wir noch verkünden, dass unsere Stats-Seite so gut wie fertig ist. Diese Seite bietet einen Überblick über die verschiedenen Multiplayer Server, wie zB die Anzahl der Online-Spieler, durchschnittliche Spielerzahlen etc. Serverbesitzer werden in der Lage sein, die Übersichtsseite ihres Servers anzupassen (zB eine eigene Beschreibung oder eigene Screenshots hinzufügen), indem sie sich als Webadmin in die server.properties Datei eintragen.

    This means the OpenGL driver crashed. Basically this may have two possible reasons: Either the driver is erroneous, or there is a hardware issue (e.g. a temperature issue). Most likely it's a driver issue. Even though the NVIDIA drivers have very good OpenGL support, there is always a chance that a certain driver version contains some bugs (especially very old and brand new drivers may be partly broken).
    What graphics card do you have exactly? Please try to download and install the latest NVIDIA driver for your graphics card. If there is already the latest NVIDIA driver installed, please rollback to a previous driver version instead.

    There will be a preview in the next days :)


    There are indeed some aspects which slow down development of this update: on the one hand, it's going to be a huge update, it contains lots of new items, clothes, new animations and new mechanisms. Some parts of the game need to be reworked for the new stuff, e.g. while the game previously just used some basic animations for first person view, we now have to go much more into detail to cover all the different and individual animations now. On the other hand, there are a lot of existing items which need to be updated now (again, especially the first person animations are a lot of work), in fact this takes longer than adding new ones :whistling:
    Last but not least the previous update kept us quite busy (last hotfix was on 6th of May, so we weren't really able to focus on the player models before)...


    I'm thinking about splitting this update into several parts, this would make some parts available earlier, and also bugfixing would be easier ;) It's always a pity if updates take "too long", especially since this also holds back other changes and bugfixes that were done in the meantime, but in this case I'm sure that the result will be worth it.


    There are also some other preparations going on, i.e. things which eagerly wait for the new models/items/animations (e.g. a full rework of the crafting recipes), but that's a different story ^^
