The next update will be available on Wednesday, December 18, in the early evening (GMT+1).
This update will not yet replace the Java version, instead it is the actual content update. We'll provide more information about the transition together with the update.

Hmm... that's strange There is actually a key to unequip the item ("Unequip item" in the controls settings, by default it's set to H), does it maybe use the same key binding as reset? Please try to remove the binding for this key and see if this still happens.
You're right, I had the same key mapped for both 'reset' and 'unequip'. Sorry!
-
Pressing the reset key deselects or puts away the block. Wouldn't it be better to reset rotation/scaling but keep the block selected?
-
Another small issue: textures seem to partially disappear when rotating a (rounded) block to some angle...
-
Just noticed (on Linux at least) the slider in the scroll bar on the block bench isn't visible
Also, the time taken to pick up an item, eg a lantern, using the radial menu seems way too long.
-
Unfortunately the ability to remap the keys arnt working for me, so every time i try and rotate or move a block my character moves as well.
Try deleting the alternative keys? eg use WASD for movement arrows for building?
-
I can confirm that, thank you.
Where would you like suggestions etc posted?
-
You'll have the same report from me too - sorry I should have checked back here first

Usually it takes some time until the Steam client recognizes a new update (if it was released while your Steam client was already running). You can manually trigger the download by rightclicking on RW in your Steam lib -> Properties -> Local files -> Verify integrity of game files
Thanks, download just arrived... must go!
-
Can't wait to try it!
EDIT: Had to opt out of beta then opt in again for update to be visible - not sure why?
-
This sounds very much like what you're suggesting (I think) - NPCs build bases and attack yours while you're trying to survive:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/418030/Subsistence/
(I played it for 12 hours but couldn't take any more, it was garbage.)
-
I don't mind having a smaller inventory and expanding it with bags, backpack, etc
Even for really huge loads a cart, which is confirmed anyways.
I didn't realise that was the case, I think it's the best/most realistic option for moving oodles of stone etc.
-
Valheim's carts are the obvious way to go: limited personal inventory weight but a cart you pull (which obviously makes you slower) that can carry substantially more.
Check out videos on Youtube, https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=valheim+cart

As has been mentioned, placing a 'full' block then chiselling to shape seems most immersive... (for a similar example see the game 'Vintage Story').
So, place block => select chisel tool/shape => Hit a few times
Maybe tool should retain last required shape?

Good question The main problem is that we cannot reliably find out which friends actually own the game (unless they're playing RW). At least the list gets sorted properly (so friends playing RW will always be shown at the top), but maybe we can add some filter options for the friends list
I see. Would players hang around on that screen to see who was playing though when they can see that info in the Steam friends list? At least they make it a little more interactive/live. Personally I find title/intro/main menu screens just a barrier to the action after I've seen them once. Maybe I'm just very impatient
-
Btw, a small update for the new version is now available
Great. What's the thinking behind displaying all steam friends on the title page, even if they don't own RW?
-
CedarMan Unfortunately the current net earnings aren't enough to make a living
So frustrating. I have a similar situation with books/e-books, around 80% of the purchase price goes to Amazon/Apple

Some textures get distorted when deforming terrain, see vertically stretched area near centre of image.
(MX Linux with Radeon RX570 8gb)
I think this issue was present in the previous version and I know i've seen it in other games where objects can be deformed. Possibly not something you can do a lot about but thought it worth pointing out.

While this is not related to GPU issues I'd suggest that you symlink opus.so to your system's libopus.so.0 because this way you will not miss updates on that lib. Your system takes care that this always points to the latest version.
This way you also prevent a broken lib in the future when other dynamical linked libs can no longer be found (see output ldd opus.so). May be unlikely in this case but best practise n stuff.
Yeah, I'm hoping that this Unity version of RW gets fixed for the proper release and therefore won't require any symlinks or manual tweaking. I'm keeping it sort of 'sandboxed' at present, hence the file copy/rename so it's easier to see what's going wrong.
-
I couldn't get the game to start at all initially, it was crashing with an error related to 'opus.so'. The fix for me was to copy the system file libopus.so from:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/
into:
.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/RisingWorld/_New Version/Data/Plugins/
(Note the system file is libopus.so.0, I renamed the copy to libopus.so)
Other than that no issues at all so far:
MX Linux 19.3
Kernel: 5.8.0-3-amd64
AMD Ryzen 5
AMD Radeon RX570 8gb
16gb RAM

Also, the radial menu (not a great fan of these but can live with it) for chests should probably say 'Open/Close Chest'
