Nice! Glad you filled in a void of someone asking to measure how far something is. Shall become far more useful when we gain horses, railways, among other things. You have my respect

I don't know about you or anyone else but I wouldn't mind a group of bandits to come raid my towns once in awhile just for the thrill & excitement of having something to actually fight.
Wow....Careful there or else you might offend people who would much rather hide in peace mode, then shout at you whenever you want to add something that'll keep you on your toes. Glad we have a thing called filters so your desire (as with mine) is the same.
A bad sarcastic joke aside....... I do look forward to this because it gives you reason to build up, to justify your weapons, to give you actual purpose in the world, and would allow you to have fun with NPC followers which may come in from either creative or survival side of things. The moment where you can hire the server's NPCs, or even your own (ones you would either rescue in wild or hire from a pub) as you wander around the world while chilling in your settlement(s). Can't wait to see what Red51 has in store for pirates, bandits, raiders, and etc. Should be awesome.
When you're being attacked you tend to build clever buildings & travel ways as so hostiles don't get at you, and it would be interesting to see how people would adapt. Just look at how people built ' Timber & Stone' when they managed to dig in properly. Yeah, still waiting on dungeons update to then allow us the option to customize our avatars. Should give way for both hostile & peaceful humanoids to enter the mix, as well as vehicles, and other stuff. I can't wait for horses....Still itching for them, and 'mass-produced' gravel.
(Goes to read more postings)

What I saw from 'Timber & Stone' on Weem & Vortac side of things, as well as Minecraft's Little Maids Mod (haven't played either) is where I'm hoping it's where things shall go. Simplistic, yet complex enough for basic RPG stuff, professions, assistance, commanding, and etc., The features within those games being interesting that I'd love to see where Rising World would take it. Spoiled too much by other gaming mods & features that it would be sweet to see it in Rising World.
Yeah, I do wish NPCs could be rescued in the wilderness, recruited from bandits, raiders, and & such via some mini quest or favours, or even sparing their life with a script triggering a little moment for you to recruit them. Whatever Red51 wants to do it or not is up to him, yet it'll be another survival element to recruit. I hope he does something for survival side. That, and we both have the same reasons for wanting NPCs also that I'm god damn tired constantly asking my buddies to join me when I could have NPCs joining me, assisting me wherever. That, and NPCs wouldn't give you drama by muting by giving you the silent treatment when something trivial & petty happens...........Depending on how Red51 & modders code them then they'd be helpful in their various ways. Maybe even a bit romantic in that spouse manner by giving you something to relax & work towards.......Who knows where it's going to go.
QuoteMe: Do you want to play?
Them: No (downloading PSo2)
Me: Do you want to play?
Them: No (checking out Win xp stuff)
Me: Do you want to play?
Them: No (playing something else)
Me: Do you want to play?
Them: No (playing Roblox)
Me: Do you want to play?
Them: No (& any other excuses you can think of)
Yeah. Buying & selling seems to be a thing with traveling merchants so that shall be fun to see how you can attract them into your settlements. I'm too tired to deal with people's stubborness that I just want to create my NPC chracters of Vara (in my avatar; Arctic fox human girl), Scathach (Fate/Grand Order), a Dark Elf (something for fun), and anything else as both companions & to join me around the world. If they can ride horses & mount your own horse that be awesome. That's if we can have two humanoids on one horse, as well as even the ability for them to follow you on their own horse they've been assigned to. Horse combat, and such.Lots to add to them. I agree with you & such that I keep dragging it out into long posts in excitement, and now sleep deprivation. I just want to play Rising World in a proper manner without the BS, and with NPCs on my side & to interact with to immerse myself with. Going to be a long wait........
[Edit: I hope my posting is eligable. 5 hours of sleep just ruins the flow that I tried to go back and edit.]

Also, dig deeper into this thought of further use & function.
Teeth could also be used as knives (when you start), as well as the paws as gloves, the head as a head cape, among others. Yes, we could mount them on the wall, use them as a rug, among other stuff. This option should be available for all animals also.
Wolf skin head, yet the idea is there that from Native Americans to Gauls (ancient germans), to Vikings, to Romans, among others used animals in various fashions. I hope Red51 gives us these options for customization. That, and to keep warm on Medieval era.
Expect this stuff for Roman & Ancient military fashion. Scouting.
Yup.....I'd love to be able to use EVERY part. Go take a look at 7 Days to Die for further inspiration

If Red51 manages to get to this stage it'll be interesting fun to be had. The whole bit of adding NPC Traders (Creative side), traveling merchants (survival side), as well as raiders, pirates, bandits, among others. Even the whole hostile cabin log dwellers who have severe cases of 'cabin fever'.
I wonder if Witch above is spoiled by the likes of both Skyrim & that 'Kingdoms' game of finding a spouse to merry. Even 'Stardew Valley'. Curious if mods would cover the marriage side of things to have a spouse & kid going. I wouldn't be against it as it would open up another set of paths to customize what the child looks like to then have them gradually (very slowly) grow. It would add more 'survival' type attachments to the game with more world personalizations. No sex scenes; no +18 content people would get insanely offended about because that would kill them like a bad allergy for some foreign reason. I guess after much traveling, dungeon exploring, having them ringed & such would trigger a rare spawn of a baby after a while with the baby spawning triggered by the opposite sex (or same sex, if that floats your boat). You would then have to protect them from the threats of bandits & such by adding guards, having a mini kingdom going, and such. It be interesting in and outside of itself of 'marriage'.
I'd be more excited for NPC professions in the manner of 'Timber & Stone' for they could be tasked with farming, logging (cutting trees), cooking, fishing, among other helpful things. We would have traveling merchants, yet I'd be happy with having those basic NPCs to start off with.
--------------
That, and I'd been wishing for (a long time) in having a 'bodyguard' type NPC follower. Just someone you can customize, follows you, does combat when needed, and can chill at home. Basically what's in Skyrim, but simplified in Red51's & Rising World's case. I however get carried away by desires that I would enjoy it if they kept an eye out for items you're seeking that they would go after it, if it's in their line of sight. They would go after cotton, potatoes, among other things, if told. Thinking about mining, they would follow you underground to then mine out any ore they see in eye sight (exposed). Take them to a mining area then see them dig like crazy.
Bonus Addition:
This is if Red51 wants to challenge himself in having 'Timber & Stone' type leveling tree that the more they do in a certain job the better they get at it. The quicker they will be, more efficient, and etc. If they chop trees they would get faster at doing such, yield more, be less tardy & etc. It might be difficult in Rising World's case, yet you could probably have a fake 'hit' & 'miss' going on covertly in the resource harvesting code for them. Similar with fishing, and etc. Farming would be far more efficient by seeing scattered crops at first, then neater ones later on. You'd eventually see bigger fish being caught in the fishing profession, and etc.
[Recruiting NPCs in survival should be done by rescuing them from bandits, as well as in the wild. They should randomly spawn in & out when you haven't rescued them to get a chance at recruiting them. Maybe befriending 'bored' bandits, raiders, & pirates. Anything.]
-------------------------------
If Red51 hates me & us posting this stuff then he can blame 'Timber & Stone', Skyrim, Rimworld, Black & White, Minecraft's 'Little Maids Mod', among other for spoiling me & others. I'm always going to drop in an NPC thread because I want to fiddle with them highly.

Seeing as how Rising World is still being fleshed out everything and anything is possible. The stuff we see now isn't 100% that will stay in the end product. Maybe it shall, yet we would have to see.
The thing with this idea (as much as people deny things in fear) is that it would work well, as it would in 7 Days to Die in other forms. Maybe not the 7th Day survival swarm, yet everything else being nitty gritty worked with that game that I can see it crossing over nicely into Rising World, but only if NPCs are taken full advantage of to travel on horse back, boats, among others, even if it has to be simulated. Even mark out pathways on maps, or have them figure out a pathway within a certain chunk range when stuck as they wander the map, or have them set to follow your pathways. They would go to the various messenger/post office boxes then deliver them where you suggested it, yet having to consider inventory space & such.
Granted, if people hate this idea so much they can simply filter it to the standard Minecraft stuff, yet talking via scrolls at first would be an interesting struggling idea as you would nudge your way up to morse code, telephones, and etc. Red51 did say he wanted to get electricity up so it would be interesting to see internet cables of various sorts set up, as well as cellphone towers, among others. Even being able to broadcast stuff across the map, such as a Google Maps type map, among other things.
This could tie in with both chat channel tabs, yet it can also go into so much more.
Also, about 'stamps' and such for a post office of both a Medieval & modern era would be interesting (as Miiware noted). I guess paying with resources to stamp stuff, something merchants could provide in whatever era & service type. Something you could eventually work around, probably trying to have wandering merchants keep up with supply and demand. There's lots to this that I could also note.
-
If we're going that route then I suggest a more 'Wurm' way to do things. Have regional/local (current, yet limited in area), World (once you have technology), or even delayed messages [snail mail] (if you hired NPCs as messangers & mailbox) as ways of communication.
1) Regional/Local: You can talk to anybody in a rough 1000x1000 radius making things more immersive.
2) World: This could become available once people get attached to electronic technology, something they can upgrade after snail mail. This could also be used to silence trolls & greifers by making them work to annoy people while having people immerse themselves in the world around them. The chat they would see could depend on device type, yet mobile devices should prompt open the current chat we have.
3) Snail Mail: You know how Romans used to keep their vast Empire in the know without technology? Do it yourself via snail mail, or have NPCs transfer mail around from place to place in both the open & covertly to get people in the know. To acquire NPCs you may have to rescue them & train them a bit, yet once taught & equipped they would be your important asset keeping you & your friends in the know making sure your NPC buddies had horses to do the tedious communication tasks. The further the settlements then the longer these snail mails would take (bonus: objects they carry would also transport). Your hired NPC should know how to get from you to the other player, even if it has to cheat by covertly loading into the chunk to get there & back (unless an ocean or lake blocks them, yet if bridge or tunnel they should keep going]. (Think of various types of mail boxes, scrolls, books, journal & such opening up into the journal type manner)
--------------
The further away people would be the slower things should be. Modern era be the exception, yet for Medieval type era communication it be amusing. I would be amused if Red51 even did consider & add this in for immersive sake. If not, then that's a shame. Imagine the effort people would take to get communication networks built up though. Communication towers, cell phone antennas, snail mail networks, and etc. It would be all amusing. The amount of effort to go into it, just like their builds.
I guess people would have issues with this, yet it would give reason to have more chat types, even guild ones. I bet there'd be those not liking the idea, yet that's for everything from my experience. There's people that hate everything, and those that genuinely hate the thought for various reason. It's hard to tell which is which, yet hope there's people who can justify & justify why they dislike the thought.
I'd be amused struggling to talk to my friend, yet there's things like Discord & steam chat to cheat a bit
-
Nice ideas. I see I'm not the only one itching for music in game that I have to once again bring up the following:
1) NPC Musicans: This is something more immersive where you can have NPCs recruited & trained(survival) or even dropped in & trained (creative) to read sheet music you put together for them to read so they can play music for everybody. The music you put together would allow them to play it out, even going further than Minecraft's redstone blocks. This is as close as you can also get skipping copyright because of no vocals, just instruments. We already have a piano, yet more could be done.
2) Live Radio: Simply have a device tune into actual radio stations across the world to play in Rising World, some even added in by default while possibly even checking for dead links. You can use Euro Truck Sim 2 & American Truck SIm for inspiration here. This could work for any WW2 era radios & higher within the game's variety.
3) Player Radio: For those that have played Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, San Andreas, 4, & even 5 would know that players can make a custom folder to import their music to play when in a vehicle. Just pop in the music, and play. Cruise through the streets, through missions that it would behave in a jukebox manner in Rising World. Just pick & choose what song to play, and it would play.
4) Silent Hunter 3 (.ogg): This submarine war sim had me convert my .mp3 tracks into .ogg that it would simply behave as #3, yet more of what OP mentioned. You would however have to go into you submarine's gramophone to play a gramaphone version of it. Treat it as you would.
-------------
As for copyright.....As long as it stays in Rising World it should be fine. People can choose & do whatever they want, as long as it stays in that instanced world. When people make videos they'll have to use careful editing to snip the "infected" scene out to add in something more "generically boring" into the mix. If possible, it be interesting and highly helpful for those that make youtube videos to keep pushing forward on things by doing server tours without being held back by people's various tastes in music, or even trolling loop tracks. Even an option to mute player's music if it becomes too abusive on the server, something you see commonly on Roblox (I tried that game briefly).
I'd be open to have a MP3 device that our player could listen to, and just us. That, as well as a stationary jukebox for home, cantina (Star Wars), saloon, pub, among any other resting type area. Even a radio variation we could insert into vehicles so we could listen to whatever we want, among others. I guess for medieval era it would simply stick to sheet music, thus the #1 idea I mentioned above with NPCs hired to do their thing. I was mocked & insulted that people treated the whole idea as clowns, yet I'm still pushing that idea forward.
--------------
[The Poll]
Thing is, I support all these options. Even the option for TV & Computer to read from Youtube. I like the idea of a local Jukebox (piano effect), even a live radio, mobile MP3 player, and such. It' makes it far too difficult because I would love to see Rising World's limits pushed as far as possible. That's what making a game is: pushing things to their limit.
I guess I'll go for a jukebox because it allows you to listen to things locally with friends (home use & such), as well as an online radio to attach on MP3 devices and such. Stuff like di.fm (electronic music), and etc. Again, look at #2 for ETS2 & ATS with how you can get a playlist to listen to various styles of music, or even having it feed into your music folder on whatever destination.

Yup, flare guns is the next step. Every time I think of flares it always defaults to a flare gun. Yup. I can wait though as there's other nice features to get at. And yeah, hopefully he has one for amusement in variety of getting a flare gun when the time comes. Even an arrow that is aimed at going slow in the night in some fashion.
Itching so badly to play more Rising World, yet being highly frustrated that I need an interested 'partner' to play with on either human or NPC comrade side of things to keep things going. I spent one session digging as far down as I could for sulfur to craft dynamite & flares that I also gained gold and iron. Swimming in ores. I'm however feeling painfully frustrations that I'm being held back while also somewhat patiently waiting for dungeons and then the needed player models & animations to lead into the horses & man-made gravel stuff....being held back with lacking features & waiting for necessary updates to release to continue......I have to keep myself distracted with other games.
--------------------
For those following me, thanks for keeping up and being curious enough in watching my videos. I need more time to release more videos, yet lagging behind also. Hopefully you're genuinely interested for more. I'll see about sneaking one out on Sunday (nov 13) dealing with something. Who knows what.
- Wanting to build:
(This acts as also a self-note to myself for possible future builds & memory loss)- Medical Building: I have it built up, somewhat functional, yet now needing to add the final touch of adding the roofing & such. To wall off the beach viewing area & such. It'll now hold all your bandages & splint needs while also (somewhat) adaptable to further needs.
- Explosive 'Factory: Thanks to the explosives update I'd probably make a strong appearing little structre slightly outside Niska village to produce & hold the new sulfur for the dynamite & flare use. When a new feature or item releases you dedicate a building themed to it. That's standard Minecraft thinking.
- Canal Bridges: Neglecting to add bridges to the canal to allow myself and others to cross. That, and considering adding a bridge to allow horses to pass through. Whenever we get rail I would have also made it a multi-purpose to allow trains to pass through (whatever sort they'd be)
- Canal: That's still a WIP, yet trying to consider if I should do it maunally filling, or creative filling. Guess I won't have a friendlier way to manually fill the canal survival side that I'd have to bite the bullet to actually creative fill the canal in. I'd still love for water to detect a block to reach all the way down instead of forming air pockets, and similar. Water is so touchy and we don't really have boats right now that I held off on it. Too much of a hassle.
- Stables: This is something I truly want to build as it's my 'first builds' in Minecraft, yet waiting on man-made gravel & horses themselves. I need horses to be around so I can adapt to their size, their needs, and places to store their saddles, food, and etc. I always build stables, as with roads, yet need the actual horse (and camel) to deal with such.
- Logging Building: Just a building to deal with logging supplies to hold all sorts of logs, wood, and even produce such. It's a major thing, something which may already be handled by Niska HQ, yet something I want to build to hold all the logging needs.
- Vehicle Tunnel: Having played Euro Truck SIm 2 I took a nice awesome tunnel at Oslo which went around and into the underground to reveal a nice underground highway. It was awesome, and something I'd love trying to replicate in Rising World. I did something on a smaller scale in Miencraft, yet would love to try a curving & underground transportation network with cars & trains. It would work far better in Rising World.
- [I'm sure I had more, yet my fatigued mind can't think of any.]
The list now versus the list I made previously for Arcticu City with what I wanted to build when I could build an actual city. I truly feel bothered that all these people are building cities, yet I don't want to get too attached that I'd lose all my builds. I'm waiting for when the world shifts to an actual world that my builds are staying smaller and more practical until the appropriate time arrives. Constantly holding back because it's alpha waiting on numerous things. That frustration on top of lacking time not being able to record....It's an odd balance currently.
So,....again. For those that have followed me and are following me on my Youtube video, I thank you highly for doing so! It means a lot. I feel happy, proud, and etc when things go the way they do when not leashed up. Makes me happy when I share something that it's being enjoyed Let's keep Rising World going strong!
-
A delay in how long the message stays up is awesome. Looking forward in seeing how you'll mend this issue, as well as how you're able to 'waste' items as you continue farming, mining, and logging. Have the stuff drop on the ground in a glowing manner, but only if inventory is full and the glowing only visible to the person doing the gathering? This would allow you to chest the stuff, come back & grab the stuff.
-
I had to get my ore detector also which burned about 30 min+ because I had to go searching for it in my outposts. Had to travel far to only find that it's still normal, yet it allowed me to find various batches of ore veins I missed out on, even hiding.
Yesterday was awesome. Last night was awesome. I take back what I said about being bummed out about the update with me having a nice rush after accidentally exploding myself bugs bunny style, as well as hearing a nice secondary boom after death.
That, and flare guns needs to be a thing. I guess that's saved up for player models & customization update.
Lastly, is it an issue if I keep harping at GEMA? It's fun dragging their name out for the damages they're causing, yet zfoxfire is concerned about the pushback when they find out about my own pushback. Too much worrying that fun needs to be had somewhere with dragging GEMA's name through the dirt for the damages they've done to the nightclubs & such. Even this game, from what I heard. Taxing everything & such.

- Niska Village [0.7.4] - Episode 7 - Explosives & Medical Clinic:
I've gotten blown up this episode while experimenting with dynamite. Was quite a blast, even a double echo upon death. Nice!
Finally managed to get around to doing another necessary episodes in Niska Village. This time I'm trying to juggle talking about the new 0.7.4 explosive update while also trying to build up my medical building some more. Even pondering when & how to complete my Niska HQ building. Finally managed to get a wall up on the medical building allowing for windows to be placed on camera, as well as some furnishings. I even had to go down as deep as -332 for sulfur beforehand to test things out with while wanting to make an 'explosives' building also. Even before all this I also had to do a run around the 'ocean' in the hunt for my ore detector at another outpost of mine wishing I had a horse to travel with.........
Having plans to getting back to wanting to build a bridges over canal, to make a logging 'cabin', as well as an explosive building, among others. Even to go back to building more forts, among other things.
I actually wish we had flare guns to shoot upwards to slowly float back down. Now you can have these flares for Plugin API airships to rescue stranded people using it as an 'SOS' signal, among other things. That, and also wishing for someone to finally release an elevator plugin. It was said to be in the works, yet needed it the most today when digging further below to get at the sulfur.
Thanks for hanging with me from episode 1 till now. Hoping to keep this strong! I had the most fun warming up to this explosive update
-
Second confirmation, nice. Yeah, I logged back in with Saloon doors trapping me in my room. (open lan & singleplayer. Not one, or the other, but both). Red51 noted that they'll be fixed in time. I'm hoping soon because I'm getting trapped more often.
Also, may I suggest to trigger the dungeon music to play more often? I'm being spooked out by the water droplets, unless that's intentional. Also, I hate how easily spooked I am. I always need someone, or some AI partner to follow me. I'm easily spooked, even knowing there's nothing there. I blame all the jump-scare games, as well as Minecraft for giving me this fear when I got creepered, Skeletoned, Zombied, and Witched jumpscared up my chair.
I love the underground track. Similar thoughts to Zork, yet loving how spooky "chill" it is. Skyrim style.
-
It is, yes. sulfur is needed for both TNT & flares. I'm however having trouble locating a good batch of it, or I may have to go to new chunks. That would require me to walk for a good long while. Wish I knew where cobalt is hiding.
-
Yeah, the flares only burn for 5 minutes (as description says), and I'm also loving the Skyrim & space sounding cave music. It sounds like what you'd hear in a cave in SKyrim and such that I'm loving it. I haven't tried flares, yet wanting to do it 'legit' so what I may be saying is false & unfounded.
I'm now trying to hunt for sulfur, yet had to do a stupid trip for my ore detector at my furthest outpost. Bah.
I'm finding so much cotton on my old chunks that it's making me both happy & frustrated at the same time because I spent a long while going to a new chunk grabbing it when it's all at my older chunk.
-
For the curious:
Dynamite is under utilities in the crafting bench.
Flares is under lights in crafting bench.Saloon door also locked me out again in 'open lan' mode while waiting on buddies to join. Now let's see where I find sulfur, if I do find sulfur.
------------
I'm loving the cave reverb when you walk & mine. It echoes nicely. Also nice that flares have a 5 minute timer to do things.
-
I guess I'll be the only one bummed out that this is mainly explosives. Was expecting more furniture, or something to fiddle with. I guess I'll instead switch that mood to building a structure to handle explosive building by storing sulfur & explosives in separate rooms to mainly focus on flares & such.
It's a nice update loving the mention of new cave music, echos, chunk loading speed up, among others. Yet curious about the cobalt. New music, and such.
Now can't wait for both dungeons & Npc followers to have fun messing about without fearing the emptiness of the caves & such.
-
I love where Miiware is going (in detail) with that earthquakes would have to be connected to something else in the game. Not up to chance, but something with a warning sign you could make note of in various forms, including technology warnings. The moon phases would be one thing where a full moon could spawn a chance of a quake. That, or some nearby volcano causing predictable eruptions, among others. With the map going to be changed from its current playtesting to a single-ocean map a continent could be shaken a few spaces in any direction, but only if there's some active lava tube or volcano in the area.
It also seems I forgot to mention 7 Days to Die with how building destruction could work by turning blocks into rubble, if it's weak. Some wooden blocks could fall, some blocks could be damaged, and such. If you're in a wooden hut or a dirt hut then it's most likely, more so after a rainy day.
But yeah, I guess this is in poor taste with what happened to Italy lately that they need some time to recover.
Also, I'm surprised people actually want natural disasters here when on the Minecraft community people kept whining & moaning to the fullest how they don't want it because their progress would be destroyed. Everything they worked for would have been for naught, and that it just harms, doesn't add anything to the gameplay. I would support floods because there's tides of waves coming in and out, as well as thunderstormse and such. You would have to make sure your farmed crops are within a structure, and such. Anything in the water would degrade (except for trees).
-
Bread in a furnace is something I can see Red51 doing naturally without us suggesting it, yet to solidify that thought I +1 it. I can't wait to see bread, pies, pizza, cakes, and such being bakes in some sort of furnace. That however has to all wait for the cooking update, whenever that is.
Natural disasters is something I support. Be nice to have flooding, earthquakes (minus the whole ripping, but just shakes) to mess with building. if there's any weak builds then they would collapse, 7 Days to Die style, while stronger stone types be left intact. Thunderstorms, Tornadoes.......
We would really have to plan ahead and everything. I actually love it, yet there'll obviously people being against it because of losing their progress. Same with not wanting hostiles, zombies, and etc. A split community wanting 'realism', yet in a specific manner.
-
I agree on the auto-level & charcoal bit.
