It's that time of the year again!
Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians!
It's that time of the year again!
Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians!
I am very curious about the rail tracks/terrain placement as well.Being a voxel game,it would make sense if tracks would follow every bump and hill but from the other hand,I think they will look peculiar.Rails of War mod for minecraft had a good concept about uphill/downhill tracks and such. That would make them pretty realistic while could smoothly go up and down.15,30,45 degree slopes would be great in my opinion. With placement,it would automatically add a neutral color slope under the tracks and can be painted with the available paint tool textures(dirt, gravel etc).Just imagining how can it possibly be.I dont know how Red thought about it but I am pretty sure he will create them the best way possible.
I can imagine a flatbed car loaded with crates, barrels rolling down the hill.A livestock car loaded with animals for translocation,If we could lure them in with wheat or a carrot or something. It will be just sick!!
Like ArcticuKitsu mentioned" 2 blocks wide for minecarts & 4 for trains will be neat".Thats exactly what I imagined as well.Hopefully the trains will have a realistic size compared to the player. Also, minecarts will look awesome and with 2 block width,it will be a good size too.
Constant curiousity that it hurts & pains Red51 he can't discuss this with us because the moment he did would be the moment we would be whining like the trolls about water. He doesn't want to promise anything, more so when I keep logs of what he said on this forum
Two wide for Minecarts is indeed nice that it makes things highly smooth. 1x1 is tiny, yet 2x2 is nice and wide [tunnels] for minecarts. We would be making wider tunnels & ways to go, though. That, and 4 wide is again reasonable. I'm constantly wondering if Red51 shall give us all those train cargo cars, or if he'll give us some generic ones to dump everything in; If he'll lock some to a certain type. Liquid storage cars shall be a big thing to add for the drinking water, oil, and fruit/veggie guices (apple & orange juice).
There's so much fun to be had with train side of things :). But first, Horses & boats!
Kind of late because I've been busy experimenting last night then building my canal & starting work on my 'Canadian Tower' today. Spammed it all on Steam gallery just now. But ya, I'm loving the new big furnace being able to smelt more ores this time around. That, and finally fueling it to keep it running. Lumber being a good 5 value & coal being a good 40 value that you can smelt happily. Finally a nice use for the coal & lumber. Being able to also re-fill the canteens is a nice sweet touch. Don't have to worry about being thirsty that much longer.
Opening the fuel hatch has a nice vibe & immersive feel to it that I love it. It however has me wondering what's stopping people from just jumping onto that from the get-go. They could skip the small furnace, primitive types, to just get to the big one.
Also, can't wait for the cooking update either because I want to populate my 'kitchen' area of my Niska HQ with a good oven, or something. Just a nice fridge, oven, & any accessories for cooking, eating, and such. ANy restaurant type interior decoration. Feeling flat right now.
------------
Also loving the conversation about the rails for minecarts & trains. 2 blocks wide for minecarts & 4 for trains is neat. My pathways are already 5 wide so I could see 4 wide being a nice touch for steam, diesel, electric and the like. Can't wait to see how you treat trains, and if the tracks shall follow the terrain or not. If it'll mold itself to each bump & curve of the terrain, or if they'll behave more like planks.
Thanks for allowing me to reach 40 views on episode 3! Sadly, it came with a thumbs down that I'm going to blame it on it being "Typical boring Youtube" mentality. I think it's because I mentioned Yuudachi with people being brainless about either being blindly in love with her or blindly hating her that there's no middle ground. It's a real shame people have to be stupid like that. Hope we can just get along without picking silly sides.

- Rising World - Niska Village: Ep 4 - [0.7.1 & 0.7.2 Updates]
Finally managed to find the time to record this episode 4 that I can now happily cover & ramble on about both small, yet necessary updates. Happily messing with the buckets, scaffoldings, canteen, how to use the scaffolding, & mentioning the big furnace. It's all lovely and awesome. That, and preparing to build my canal & the 'Canadian Tower' from my Minecraft world brought into Rising World.
Hope you enjoy, and hope you'll keep me afloat I want to cover more updates & such while learning lessons from previous episodes.
Wow....Silent Hunter 3 is now $5 on sale . Well, hope people buy it then because it's the best naval game out there with no equal. That's no joke! I wish people made more open world naval games like SH3.... UBOOT is trying to be like that, yet Sims style, yet I feel it slipped trying to be too realistic. I feel they even have some arrogance issues also, but ya.
Glad you got Silent Hunter 3 while also bringing up the movie 'Das Boot' being the best war movie also. You know the industry is suffering heavily when SH3 & Das Boot are the best & with no equal. Damn, are people horrible.
And ya, 4x4 would be nice. Anything would be nice. I'm used to seeing Tatra trucks when in Slovakia that I'd be amused to see them in Rising World. There's a higher chance because this game is European heh.
If this one isn't in then that's fine, but as supershanks said that it would promote trade on servers. You even hauling good to NPC villages, among other places. All in between settlements heh. Seeing as how I can truck in ETS2 & ATS, I could do so easily in Rising World. People probably might turn Rising World into a trucking world. Imagine having to fulfull jobs for people & NPCs where you can get daily timed requests & such in that NPC Trader manner, yet having it seen being used in the area.
When NPC Traders come along I'd be amused if when the NPCs ask for melons that you would then see them eat the melons, store then, and just move them around their settlement. If fish, then you'd see them cooking fish :). It would go into their inventory/chests, then they would play with it.
Looks like someone is all hyped up. You left us all hanging then you suddenly have this furnace update all ready to be viewed that I find it oddly amusing. I'm loving how you can open up the hatch at the back to put the lumber & coal back there. It goes by 1 unit per insert, yet it's neat how you can just insert it. Lumber was 1 unit & coal being 40 while it ticks down roughly every 10 seconds? Hard to tell right now because I tried to put myself back into the loop. But it's neat addition & a neat video. I managed to now smelt a nice good stack of resources each 5 minutes, or so. A nice stack of 10 ingots, or so. Many more to go that I now need to spend it on horse iron armor, or even railway. Something iron-based
I may need to make a separate smelting area just for this smelter now in my Niska Village. That, and I"ll use this over the tiny one in other forts & settlements. A new standard furnace that it'll sadly push away the mini one. Makes you wonder how to balance it out because people shall go straight for this big one.
Also, forgot to mention, that I also had the ghost ore issue on my open lan session with my friend that I had to keep restarting the server. The ore would smelt, yet it would be both raw & ingots at the same time when done that when you'd harvest it would just clog up the furnace forcing you to restart the session. It got irritating that we stopped doing it until things were stable again. Have to test this on my Thursday & Friday. THanks Red! Thanks Vortac for the video
Silent Hunter 3 is only $10 Canadian so just go ahead and buy it. It's an old 2006 game, yet it still holds true, strongly, and proudly that it puts all the modern naval games to shame.
It's thanks to my friend pushing me to play ETS2 MP that I was able to learn how to reverse. Not the best, yet gradually getting better that I may go through my livestream highlights from Twitch to post onto my Youtube sometimes next week. I have Thursday & Friday off that it'll all go into Rising World, yet sometimes next week I'll try and go through my Twitch streams saved on my external to get blurry visuals of how I behaved on Silent Hunter 3, ETS2, & even ATS. That's going to take ages to convert & splice
Yeah. Well, good luck on ETS2, and have fun with American Truck SIm also. Reversing is a fun one. Again, makes me wonder if Red51 shall give us box trucks, and/or trailer trucks to mess about with in the future. I would love to haul Minecraft goodies for a long while between settlement to settlement heh. If I can befriend more & get a dedicated private server going I'd love to invite people to join me in my (survival) world.
Nice! Yup. I forgot to mention Silent Hunter 3 with you able to choose any sub, go to any grid, and attack in whatever manner you'd like. I love it. I love these type of freedom games. Lego Worlds is neat, yet it isn't as functional as Minecraft, nor Rising World, in its 'survival' elements. Lego World I want to hold up also yet it's more arcade that I prefer Rising World fun. Wish Flight SImulator X had Euro Truck Sim & ATS type progression. You just hop in, fly, and that's it. The missions isn't where it should have gone.
I wish there was a game developer out there inspiring from Silent Hunter 3 to make an open-world free-roaming surface ship game. Work your way up the surface ships to eventually get bigger & better vessels. It's a shame people are too afraid, lazy, or lacking the funds & skill for such.
I simply love ETS2 & ATS for both the freedom & how you have to progress by building your funds & your base of operations. That, and customizing your trucks heh.
This is where we differ. If someone's post is too lengthy and convoluted or if the grammar is so bad that it takes too much effort to comprehend then I just move on to the next discussion. I'm not wasting any more effort to be confrontational with anyone. I'm only responding to you on this because I already know you a little.
I leave a simple comment then you get a bit feisty. *pours water on Fox*. But ya, that's what we're doing. Just moving on.
But ya, that's usually the way to do it. That, and loving people's ideas of turning the journal into an 8bit RPG type map. That would actually work nicely, and in a more immersive way than Journey map in Minecraft. Google map style maps should be left to in game PCs & modern tablets.
That, and curious what this update we're getting shall be. Must be that rake fix, among others hmm. I hope it's also the open Lan related issues of ores & ingots clogging up the furnace. THat's been a real pain in the rear.
Alright, here's a few more images to share from after episode 3 & before episode 4 showing the progress in Niska Village. Guess I'm spoiling the fun for ep 4, yet I could always add that much more to it. Hope people enjoyed ep 3, yet now waiting for Thursday to record & upload ep 4 with the stuff from the previous session. Yes, I'm on the 'late' side, just wanting to have my video saturate the community before jumping to the next one. Wanting to make sure the videos are worthwhile and not wasted.
In the order the images appear:
Yup. Not bad. I still need to give Niska HQ its second floor, stairs, as well as giving it some other room functions. That, and to even further build up my home so I can actually live in there. Can't wait to build some stables, vehicle garages, a dockyard, a canal, and of course various Forts and towers following the ocean around. A nice pathway leading around the ocean to then round its way back towards Niska Village. Now, can you see why I would want those 'stepping stones' & a horse for my world? There's so much to do that I can now do such for both Thursday & Friday. Should be fun.
Hope you enjoy & thanks for following! There's obviously more to come. Even trying to learn more unique building styles, some of which I have learned from Vortac, Goolging, and seeing people proudly post their server tours and such. See you in Ep 4!
Try it & see what happens? I'm pointing it out because I had to read that over three times over to see what the context of that was. To me I read it as Supershark owning a fireman, not playing as one in a role-playing immersive manner. But I guess now that we have water we should have some fire equipment to put out fires with
you're very welcome, @ladylightning. We need more variety in leave patterns that I also wanted to line my main roads with red maple trees, or something. Maybe even planning ahead with seasons where trees might alternate that I'd have the second tree for summer & every first one for autumn type thing.
- Maple Tree in autumn.
It's all up to Red51 with how he wants to do seasons, colours on trees, and such. Once we have a stable game also I'd happily make a main road(s) for Arcticu City with this maple tree, or even alternate per season that one season you'd see Sakura trees & another season you'd see maple trees. Even purple Crab Apple trees during the mid summer range. If I can't have red Maple trees then I'd simply go with what I saw in Cuba.
- Royal Poinciana:
The same tree I've seen in Cuba in the 'Varadero' area in the below image. If we can get this kind of big tree in the same size in the game that would be awesome & epic. I'd happily try farming for more that I'd wish & hope it would drop two saplings at a high spawn rate.
There's so many neat things Rising World could add in the nature side
-------------------
Edit:
While now ID'ing that tree I saw in Cuba I also came across another naturally purple tree from Cuba again.
- Jacaranda:
Rising World should be beautiful when we're done with it
This whole mix up of 'your' & 'you're' is messing with my mind
I know this is too early, etc, & etc. I however saw this in 'Mount & Blade: Bannerlord' video coming out later that I just had to make note of it. Mount & Blade: Warband was awesome, yet this is now expanding on that with it adding much more to it. I have to note this now because I already lost my thought bubble earlier in the day when wanting to mention this.
My point of reference for this being at 7:00 to 7:47:
Being able to customize each part of the weapon, as in that video, would be sweet seeing as how we have that option already. Might as well customize the weapons if we're going to have weapons, and something to show Minecraft how it's done. You want realism, then look at 'Mount & Blade' Warband, as well as 'Bannerlord' for stuff. Any type of blade you would find in a history book should be craftable in this game that any blade & hilt/pummel should be interchangable. A 'weapons update' would work wonders for this nicely, if Red51 wants to dig nicely in there. Mostly for blades, really, that people might stay in medieval, or even make a weapons collection.
What I loved the most about Minecraft was being able to name & customize my diamond tools (pickaxe) that I wanted to save it. If we had that in this game it would do wonders for the tool rack we would get. That, and display cases, among various others. Museums would be spawned, as well as display areas in your homes & mansions.
--------
Bonus Thoughts:
While on the topic of 'Mount & Blade' series the horses should move heavily & weighted as they do in Mount & Blade within Rising World. They should have actual weight to them in their animation, their function, and customization. You should take a bit to turn, to do things. The movement shouldn't be player responsive, yet a 'scale' toggle type manner. You should move a lever type thing to have the horse stay at a constant speed, yet when at full would revert to 'normal' running speed.
Can't wait to also start decorating them with various armor types, even decorational ones. Red & white, or whatever scheme we could. Iron chain mail, among various others. I really badly need horses in my world to go exploring. I mean, I don't have to, yet it's all for science & settlements.
Bonus #2:
8:19 is something I suggested before, yet being able to play minigames with yourself, other players, and even NPCs should be a thing. Playing chess, checkers, and/or whatever boardgame type game Red51 can program. Even deck of cards for blackjack, among others. Why? Roleplaying & immersion is why. It be fun seeing what these types of games would do in this type of Rising World game. People are creative when they want to me, and immersive also.
Heyo! After seeing someone from the Rising World community pick up ATS while I was playing, even gaining achievements I don't have, I thought I'd bring the two lovely games to this sub-forum. The two games being Euro Truck Sim 2 of the whole of Europe (or in time being full), and the whole of American (maybe even Canada & Mexico later) that you can truck, customize, and travel to various coasts enjoying the sight. Both games update in parallel, or closely to such, that you mostly get the same type of updates the other has, within reason.
Been playing 'Euro Truck Sim 2' happily because it allowed me access to Bratislava, Slovakia where I placed my base of operations at first, and always. I had to keep restarting my saves, yet keep putting it back as it was the first time around. I love ETS2, and I love the whole freedom of it. The same freedom you see in Rising World & Minecraft, and even Skyrim. Do things on your own terms where you aren't shoved into a linear gameplay style. As it is now I'm loving the Scandanavian update with Sweden being truly European-like while also giving off the Canadian Ontario vibe to it. It's awesome. A France DLC is coming soon also with it re-doing the current while filling in the void for us to further explore. I love trucking with my Canadian themed Volvo around Europe.
American Truck Simulator was an odd one when it was first announced, yet glad I purchased it. It has California, Nevada, and Arizona, yet it shall expand with time. The time people keep whining about, and the same whining you hear with Rising World with water and all that stuff. Art takes time, yet I'm happy I'm in for the long haul with ETS2, ATS, & Rising World.

-------------
As a bonus thought: I keep thinking about "what if's" with how I keep seeing Rising World in both ETS2 & ATS, and how it be like to drive trucks around. How one would create roadways using various hand-held & vehicle related road pavers, as well how you would truck from one destination to another delivering your goods. Even having to back up in either a box truck or an actual cargo truck to reverse in the manner in ETS2 & ATS. It be amusing if Red51 would model out both European & American related trucks in both compact & transport hauling manner that you'd have to literally back it up, or just make tram/train styled turning points for the inexperienced.
It's damn fun being able to explore in both games that I'm even wishing for Canada & Ontario to be added on the American Truck Sim side of things. WoT allows you to customize your plate to any state, as well as record your online contract stats, as well as expanding on its functionability as time goes on. It's similar to the Rockstar Club that Grand Theft Auto 5 & Online has, yet adds its own neat fun. Really can't wait to sport an Ontario plate, to visit Ontario, as well as make my base in Ottawa. It'll be years, yet can't wait for that to happen
I guess Notch/Jeb were onto something when they had their Minecraft map fill up just enough to be in your POV, yet move out of the way just enough that you could peak over the paper. If Red51 could do something along that line with maybe the type of map ArmA uses then it could be properly used. You could have the main map to take 'quick-peaks' at to then bring up sections of it in a compass-like manner. Think of it like a little notepad type of map popping up to the right in a compass function.
Instead of having a hoverhead map, as in various Journey map addons, or even 'Rei's minimap', on the top right you'd simply have a realistic & immersive notepad pop up. If you REALLY need to study then you'd go into a book/journal, or whatever we're given.
Episode 3 - Beach House Foundation:
-----------
Awesome ep 3 with your beach home building, Vortac. Only just now starting building my own home again in this second world after the water update with the serious amount of terraforming I had to do that my friend had to help me through open lan. Both pickaxing & using the rake that we only now managed to settle in. Seeing you in the same position is amusing that we might have to bug Red51 for '"Something" to help with these serious terraforming projects. I guess that mining drill, or whichever.
Seeing your progress in ep 3 it's fine if you didn't craft a bucket, yet when you go focusing on other things is when we'll become picky
Awesome stuff! Ya, there's no way you would want to record you digging the terrain or mining. Also, you're proving why I spawned that thread of wanting slimmer building materials to build walls while being spoiled by the likes of Stranded Deep, Out of Reach, and even ARK. Rising World does have planks, yet it now needs to add those slimmer building materials into the game, or at least slabs turned sideways heh.
Glad we're all loving where Rising World is going.
Been enjoying these, and glad they're now back. Episode 2 being a nice motivation boost. Thanks for the shout-out to both me & Zork
Makes me wonder what you'll do once we get the player customization, animations, & even horses to play around. That be awesome to see how we play in comparison. That, and with the dungeons coming up. You forgot to make a bucket though to move your water closer to make a water well of some sort to drink from. That's something you should try doing by making an immersive water well you can drink from.
Alright, one thing I'm going to do from now on is stay out of any 'serious' discussion threads because I keep ruining them. You guys can have at them.
And that's the way to do it with the filters & such. Just play your style while ticking on & off the filters. If you don't want mobs roaming then hit that box because that's something Red51 made to allow all of us to play in this adaptive game for all. We can all play in our own lovely style that I also think of Skyrim with the MCM menu to change each and every little value modders have thought of. It's awesome.
Again, I do apologise for any hostilities yet just wanting to keep Rising World awesome while a bit bothered what I view as paranoia. I'm just going to follow Fox's lead now by defusing any thoughts on my end.
The conflict is that I'm used to being harassed in survival games that I've grown to be defensive when surviving that I've gained reflexes & senses that I don't find anything of this sort "strange" or "alien". You can still build peacefully, yet first have to earn what you own to do so. This is Rising World with 98% animals & 2% hostile bandits that you'll still have your creative mode style quietness & calmness. Expect the unexpected though, such as the chest-raiding Racoons among others. Minecraft, Skyrim, & Silent Hunter 3 tought me that when you don't keep an eye at your back that there's a big chunk of gameplay missing from the game & that you're really not being kept in check. Not hardcore, just keeping your figurative blade sharpened. If you're not being harassed in some way then you're not really playing. Both vanilla & modding made you tough so you could survive anything, and I'm still managing to make the most of everything in the world. Minecraft may be a "kids" game, yet it went out of its way to make me learn how to keep these mobs out of the way by making chests full of stone swords (nothing less), a few iron swords, or even specially enchanted diamond swords. That, and you'd have to strafe (before the combat update) that you could dispatch these hostiles easily. That, and to just light up, wall up, and just make sure the area is unclaimable by hostile entities.
Think of it like the campfire that keeps wolves at bay, or some kind of relic that would keep monsters & such at bay. the campfire + wolves bit was constantly suggested & brought up with how to deal with hostiles. I'll however agree that Creepers, Skeletons, & zombies are "out of place" in Minecraft, yet that's Minecraft. It's supposed to be that silly to keep things gameplay challenging, if done crudely by the lazy Mojang.
I don't find it weird how there would be a 'few' (as in 1-2 every 3 hours; average session) roaming around the world. That's just an example, yet where this is basicalyl going with the frequency of these roamers, maybe even once every 3 average sessions of 3 hours. Basically 1 with a 50% chance to appear anywhere top side every 4:59 hours, or so (whatever I noted tree growth as). Again, having survived the hell in Minecraft vanilla, and more severely in 'Feed The Beast' that Rising World shall be a cake walk that there shouldn't be any push backs to this thought. More so when we're getting access to bows & arrows, crossbows, among muskets & pistols that any roaming hostile would be dispatched with ease. Even if there's herding, or not. A simple iron sword would slay them also. I've survived (with a group of friends) building up my starting place on an FTB server with zombies, skeletons, mutant zombies, & etc attacking us while we walled off the area with fences & built our home up. It became a tranquil place after that I really see no issue with. Just get yourself some iron & an iron sword then you'd be fine & home free. Having a crossbow & musket/pistol in hand would be wise, or just travel where you know its safe. Always be prepared. Then get yourself a bow & arrow or a spear. Maybe even a lance, if Red51 wants to have fun with lances.
Again, luckily we have filters & luckily Zork is trying to keep things neutral by bridging things.
-------------
While thinking of how to attack hostiles makes me wonder if we can use horse equipment while on foot. Would you find this "too alien" or weird?
Do you want to approve or disapprove of having this only on horses? In the anime world this lance & shield has become just as standard as a sword & shield that I wouldn't mind seeing it used off horses. It's up to you because change in games is often shunned that if Red51 was to listen to such that the game wouldn't update properly. Minecraft is cursed & tainted by people going "THIS UPDATE SUCKS! MIINECRAFT IS RUINED!?!!!!" after every single update. WHat I meant to say is if you approve of it or not while trying to seek a real-world counterpart of some improvising when knocked off, or similar. I believe it wouldn't hurt to have some 'experimental' weapons of medieval weapons (realistic of course), something seen in fantasy. That fine, or nah?
I may have to do more digging if any have been used, yet I think it's only spears & shield, not lance & shield. And I do apologize for my hostilities, yet that it's now a cheapened apology because I keep having to say it a lot that it's not really going to be counted.
