Update 0.9.1: Steam Cloud and more [EN]

A small new update is available now!
  • Hi folks!

First of all, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope you enjoy the holidays :)

    xmas

This is a good opportunity to release a small update! It adds new items, various Quality-of-Life changes, several bugfixes and also support for Steam Cloud.

Steam Cloud support means that your worlds and blueprints will be automatically stored in the Steam Cloud and synced with other devices where you log in. This is useful if you play the game on more than one devices (e.g. a Steam Deck and a regular PC).

If you own Rising World on Steam, you will also be able to play it via GeForce NOW (it might take a couple of days though until it's accessible there).

If you don't want to use Steam Cloud, you can turn it off in the Steam settings (right-click on Rising World in your Steam Library to get there).

Please remember that it's still recommendable to create manual backups of your world from time to time. You can do that from the single-player menu (just right-click on a world to create or restore a backup). If you've loaded a world, you can press ESC - the ingame menu now also contains an option to create a backup directly.

Please note that the backup folder had been moved with this update: it's no longer found in the "Worlds" directory, instead you can now find a separate "Backups" folder in the game directory.

    crates

This update also adds various new clothes (some of them can only be found in the world), a crossbow and a wooden crate. The glass bottle can now be filled with water, other baby animals can now be picked up and several bugs had been fixed.

We've also reworked the moon light at nights: it now casts shadows and emits more intense volumetric light. We also fixed a bug which caused moon light to not affect the clouds.

Please note that the overall brightness during night is still related to the moon phase. There are settings now to disable moon phases and to change the brightness/intensity of the moon light.

By the way, if you can't find your mount for some reason, there is now a console command "findmount" to highlight the last used mount. A more immersive solution for this is planned.

We're still working on animal breeding/husbandry and hope to get it ready with the next update. Stay tuned!

I was just this morning thinking of the crates.

    And more grass when mowing.

    Thank you!! :nerd::nerd::nerd::nerd:

  • Thanks for your feedback! :)

It seem i can't update steam dedicated server. No new version (0.9.1) is found. Even if i force check server files..

Hmm... did you maybe use the unity beta branch? It hasn't been updated unfortunately (it was just a remnant from the time before the Java version was replaced), but I've removed it now.

My server is still being recognized as 0.9, even though i have updated to 0.9.1

Do you use SteamCMD to update/install the server? Sometimes it might be necssary to add the validate parameter to download an update (i.e app_update 339010 validate).

Can we get any hint on what type of island to search for the samurai armor?? :)

It spawns on all islands, but only in golden chests and armored chests (which mainly spawn in bandit camps) ;)

  • Love this update! Especially the crossbow and the new clothes!

The rake seems to be behaving like a pickaxe, though.

This. It leave behind a big hole. No matter if used left click or right click to raise terrain. Just one hit to make a big hole and get even the stone/dirt/etc. from terrain.

This is unfortunately a bug, but I'm currently preparing a hotfix for this which should be available shortly :)

    Using Pterodactyl.
Even reinstalled it just now. Still the same thing.

I've checked the egg for RW and it seems that it's specifically using the "unity" beta branch  I've disabled the beta branch earlier (because it's no longer required since February), but maybe this is causing problems in this case... I've removed that beta branch entirely now, please see if you can download the update now. If that still doesn't work, I can re-add a new "unity" branch temporarily.
