Has any one had an issue where you can see the bear and as you get closer it turns invisible? You still can hear it and then a few seconds later it kills you
yep and some of my users have been killed by invisible bears

it can be, if your world is too old, i think.I finally found rabbits, elks and bears on the boundary of my world and of cource instantly got killed by a bear.
Because there where so many of them, like a zoo. At least 5 bears at one spot. No chance to survive.

Yes (not me though ^^). According to red it happens, when the client and the server are not synchronisized correctly, so both have different information about the bears' position.
Anyway, the devs try to fix that in todays little patch, you can find the German post explaining htis here: Bären -
It's not de wabbits it's those pesky bears. I need a gun
