Poster feature Cloud Saving

  • This has now bothered me twice with how the world saves to Steam's cloud saving, yet the posters fail to carry with it in the single player worlds. Thanks to both my Patriot SSD failing on me twice I had to experience the posters becoming invisible that you had to find them, guess where they were, and break them. I would love to see them fixed in that they either: A) Have the images save into the world itself that they would carry with the save, or B) Have a slightly greyed out, striked out, N/A notice, or something along those lines to make me aware there's a poster there.

I know where most of my posters are, yet there'll be those few odd ones hiding away. I guess servers have it easier because they have it saved to a folder, yet the single player ones need to have the images saved into the world file, or something like that.

your images are saved in most cases C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RisingWorld\Images
even in single player oO the images will be in the folder of your single player game name, you could setup a auto back up of this folder with the cloud so if your drive crash's you have a backup, by the way, i have been using samsung ssd 3d nand drives and never had any problems with them :-D

Yahgiggle Steam Signature, real name Deon Hamilton  Server @ ip 139.99.136.76:4255 Name (The Federation of territory) Unity

If at first your code does not work call it version 0.1 with the odd bug

  • Hmm....I wish that would carry over with the Steam cloud saving....And yeah, I also now have a Samsung SSD because that stupid Patriot made me furious enough that I wanted to switch to something far more reliable, even if i had to pay an arm & a leg. I needed something known to be reliable. Looking in the images folder I see some bears, mini-ads, and such. SOmething I'm unfamiliar with.

I would now however would love to have a way to see a poster's filepath is corrupted that it would show in some manner for you to hunt down, break, and replace. This shall be far more important once we gain Rising World in a very matured and completed state years down the road.

  • Actually we need a better implementation of the cloud saving. There is only a limited filespace available per user, so we have to be careful about what we store. Since some people have several worlds with loads of images, this may exceed their cloud storage.
Once we have more time, we will give the user more control about the cloud saving, i.e. he can determine which worlds he wants to store in the cloud (and also determine if images should be stored as well or not).

However, changing the way how missing images are displayed is on our list ;) So proabably there will be just an "N/A" image or something like that
