I assume this has been asked before. But I can't find anything. Everyone seems to just be suggesting the breeding plugin, but are there any real alternatives?
So how do you get meat after you kill off all the animals?

Explore further! As you go further, more animals will appear, since they spawn on unexplored biomes. The breeding plugin is great, and somthing similar will be part of the "real" game sometime.

At some point you can't really explore further without starving. Unless by explore you mean basically starting over each time the animals are gone and only carrying what's in your inventory...which isn't fun at all.

Or, become a vegetarian

but why not? you can keep finding plants to eat as you go and every now and then find a cow or a pig for meat. But plants are always there you just need to look around you so you don't miss them.
well since you can survive in the game currently on a few stacks of tomatoes for days there is no real point in carrying meat when starting expeditions.

I am not a vegetarian but I play one in Rising World. Just start a good sized garden and you will never need meat again. In fact, the only meat I eat is from the wild boars that often take issue with my trespassing. And then I usually end up burning it, LOL. So, should crop blight of some sort come into the game, I still have all of those critters to eat.

Princess, Use migdyn's Cooking Timer. It works great! I haven't burnt anything using it yet.

I am glad they are changing that . as crops will fail and need attention... the abundance of resources in the game is both a blessing and bane.

Not looking forward to food spoilage. I have crates of food stored away...
Anyway, I've become a vegetarian. So far carrots seem to be the most efficient.
