A new update is now available, introducing seasons and more!
Latest hotfix: 0.8.0.2 (2024-12-30)

Seeing as how Horses and camels have been 'teased' in desire, I'm now wanting to suggest being able to mount Mooses. I'm seeing images of people actually doing it so it wouldn't be all that strange. It would be perfectly fine with only a saddle, even some of those 'gold digger' type supply bags while using their antlers as the main weapon in jousting. My Canadian side kind of wants Mooses to be treated as mounts in a vanilla sense, also for RCMP stereotypical manners. I would actually like to show you the image that actually made me want to ride Mooses in games but I can't find it. Lost somewhere on deviantart in that pre-colonization tone in full Canadian colours. Was neat.

Horses I expect to find anywhere that's green; Camels in deserts; Mooses in same region as horses, just in forested areas.

You can choose what you want in your area, and how survival goes about it. If Rising World is indeed free then I do hope to have the option of mounting Mooses, even using them as mini supply transports. Even armed 'merchants'. I wouldn't expect wagons and such. If necessary, Mooses could be used to haul supplies in more frigid (cold) areas by pulling sleighs of either people (NPCs & players), or even supplies. That I wouldn't mind, if wanting to make possible in vanilla itself.

[Edit: I guess mount means wall mounts, which is also fine. I meant more in the context of "Mount", as in mounting a vehicle; Riding them.]

    2) -> Still looking for that main image <-

Saw an interesting post on steam forum [Here] with two gamers wondering how to make Rising World more successful and appealing to others. How to make it fun in it's own right while attracting gamers for genuine gaming fun. What's your thoughts?

    ----------

This game is still freshly out of the womb so I'll understand if it's viewed as not being popular. Those that heard it do praise it when given a proper fair chance. To me, I see it a few months old needing more care and attention to allow it to age and mature into a fine game rivaling, maybe overshadowing the likes of Miencraft. If it is a game meant on realism then realism shall be its selling point, even the features planned and considered. What could possibly make Rising World more appealing to others? I don't want to sound like I'm building the game, nor wanting to force things. Just that from what I've been shown this is how I believe may be a strong point in helping Rising World stand up from the rest.

    • NPC Villages - Sorry, Red! NPC village are a 100% must in this game now with AI needing to wander and roam around in their variously formed settlements. They now need to be able to trade with the player through bartering, even nudging the player into interacting with them more. They also help breath life into the vast world to make it feel less empty, hallow, and Chernobyl-spookie in vibe. [Look at Rimworld, Timber & Stone, and Minecraft's 'Millionaire' mod for template.]
    • NPC Pets & Comrades - Adding in an option to befriend animal and humanoid comrades would go a long way in easing any singleplayer and multiplayer eerie loneliness. It's a vast world so you need a comrade in arms, a friend to call a friend. Being able to personalize them would also go a long way, if at least with fashion wear, even modding appearances and such. If they're given the same value/worth as the player then all should be fine [Look at Skyrim & Skyrim modding with detailed facial customization & etc; Accessories also.]
    • Player Customization - Sadly I'm going to have to mention Skyrim here because that's another major selling point here. People need to express themselves so having the option to customize the face, body appearance, and etc goes a long way. Being able to wear what you want, build what you want, and appear as you want is how Skyrim & Minecraft sells itself on the community side. Allowing the game to pull from a folder of presets would do wonders. [Mirroring this to NPC comrades, even customizable personalized statues would add to the game as a whole. Also check out SKyrim's CBBE type mods, but for both genders in RW. All that details in clothing.]
    • Posters - This alone won me over from Minecraft when I saw I could finally share what I find enjoying in the real world. Being given canvases with different shape (Instagram photo-sizes, even GTA5's selfie options) would do wonders. Uncapping the limit and allowing others to view them would also help attract more gamers.
    • Vehicles - Selling the feature of horses, camels, cars, trains, boats, and possibly even air ships would attract people who want to use those as modes of transportation. With the desire to have them pre-built, it would be interesting to build these vehicles through parts in a skeleton type form. I wouldn't mind seeing my creation taking shape out in the open while being allowed to customize them. I must however warn Red that he must add a storage option into his vehicles as it would encourage trade, transportation, and exploration. Adding a handful of variety of vehicle types should assist in people wanting to use vehicles, even animal types, as transportation. Boating with canoes, merchant wooden ships, or even wooden steam boats; Trains going from steam to diesel for passenger and cargo; Having cargo trucks or simple personal cars would do wonders in keeping people happy when transporting goods.
    • Biomes - Not sure how detailed Red wants to go with this, yet has great potential to add in all our current biomes with variants and unique ones. Going all out with tropical, desert, swamp, winter, and all sorts. Even 'for fun' types while keeping them in a climate-controlled spawning would be its selling point. Adding in region-locked vegetation, items, growth lock, and mob spawning. Game isn't just blocks so 'realistic' appearing biomes would take it to a whole new level. [Adding in autumn biomes, and fantasy types would be an interesting experience.]
    • Ocean Life - This is still fair game for Rising World with it being allowed free reign to go wild. It can add simple canoes, or giant wind-sails and coal-powered boats. Sea life as whales, Orcas, shelled creatures, kelp, sea weed, salmon, and etc. Shipwrecks also still fair game. [Minecraft & Skyrim as template for me; Stranded Deep for others.]
    • Weather - Rising World has a whole domain left untouched by other games by adding in proper weather systems. They can go wild with rain, storms, thunderstorms, fog, hail, freezing rain, and etc. Hell, even flooding. It all depends on how crafty Red wants to be that we can both be pleased and displeased with the weather in a single or multiple areas on the map. Snow has the potential in accumulating, or stay static in a single layer.
    • Clothing & Weapon Variety - I'm seeing good healthy signs that Rising World shall have a big variety on clothing, armor, and character customization. I do hope we can go a tad bit "Animal Crossing New Leaf" by even inserting shirt designs in poster form. Even having your clothing appear on personalized statues would also do wonders. Not as a display stand, but an actual statue. Display stands would still be neat. Seems to be implied that we may gain a large supply of weaponry to fight the hostile environment. [Google up Minecraft's Statue mod for Forge.]
    • Food Variety - There is a strong desire of going all out with food. From what was mentioned I can easily compare it to Skyrim with how you have to cook and gather. Sushi, tea, and coffee are all fair game, that is if Red can insert it all. You may become a "Master Chef" if you so desire, and when given the option.
    • Actual Electricity - There is great desire to give actual running electricity into the game to run lights through wind & water power. [I do hope we can use computers to plot land using GPS.]
    • Illnesses & Disease - Caught Red mentioning him wanting to add in environmental diseases. How far this goes is up in the air, yet something that you have to be cautious of when out wandering the scenery, even caught out in the elements. [Once again, assuming similar diseases & illnesses found in Skyrim. Needing some medicine to cure. This could tie in with NPC villages with 'doctors' found there.]
    • Building style - I'm amused and loving how you can build while also using grid forms. Having all sorts of blocks and items to build with that you can go wild with. Being able to rotate and use grid to snap items into positions helps a hell of a lot. Even by dragging-and-dropping allowing one to shorten what would have been more time-consuming. This game allows you to go wild by building whatever you want in a more complex and detailed manner. More so than Minecraft's FTB (Feed The Beast) modpack.
    • Realistic Mobs & Monsters - So far, the game features animals we're familiar with. Things like cows, pigs, foxes, rabbits, mooses, bears, goats, and etc. That in itself is a nice touch. Keeping things to that 'realistic' tone would go a long way in attracting people fatigued by zombies (zombie dogs are a thing), one now should expect to find mostly realistic mobs. Hopefully with signs for 'realistic' fantasy mobs that haven't been used elsewhere, yet can still be explained and eased in by Red and his team. Shall be fun seeing various wildlife and entities roaming about in their actual respective environments and biomes.
    • Sky box - One thing that Rising World needs to do is claim the sky as its own. It needs to populate the sky with birds and the occasional odd entity. Maybe even solar activity of solar flares, astroids, space junk, and auroras. Doesn't have to be much, just enough to keep us entertained without feeling unused.

Well, so far I find Rising World doing awesomely. I however have to sadly point out once again that NPC Villages & NPCs up should be pushed up on the list, just not priority. Not just NPC Traders, but actual villages you can trade with. I'm seeing this game as a mix of Skyrim & Minecraft, with that alone being enough to be used to attract people into the world wanting AI to interact and partner with. Once we can start surviving, expanding, and colonizing is when this game shall truly shine. Survival mode through farming, building, and keeping resources balanced while keeping illnesses at bay, or so implied by Red's vision. The realism, the building, the survival, the aging, and etc. It all works so nicely right now with it having a great future once more is added. Hopefully actual NPC Villages & AI comrades with proper cargo boats, and crazy detailed weather systems.

Game still needs aging, yet showing signs of being overly great. Not wanting to pressure Red, just pointing things out while trying to strike more conversation, possibly confusingly.

i like the idea of the 70% chance or even 50% or maybe making it so we could adjust this in game

Hopefully it's considered as a vanilla stat. Either 40% or 70% works as a hostile point for bears attacking on site. The bears I know locally even want to play in hammocks so I'd be amused if Red considered adding that whenever you place hammocks into your world. They would find themselves trying to sleep in it. :P

And I want golden blocks :P I want to build a golden temple hahahaha!

Haha! That would be comical though. Hmm....I hope we get a forest stump (Castle era) or a layered glass showcase or one of those Skyrim bookcases to display ores at. As a display piece.........Hope we can 'mold' them into various pieces heh.

I miss the archery range I made in Minecraft. I want to now remake that in Rising World in that Japanese archery range style. It was fun spawning in tons of arrows to then just blow steam away in that archery range. Would be awesome to see how my Rising World version would appear.

Would love to hear and see crickets roaming around in the game. Crickets, grasshoppers, frogs, toads, cicadas, and everything else that's common and makes noise. Not a BGM (Background music, nor sound)...Ones triggered when within vicinity.

Yes, I know it's too soon while also borrowing requested features for Minecraft into Rising World. Also wanted to post these because someone made an interesting post in how to make Rising World more appealing to unknowing gamers. I guess you could look at Stranded Deep for this one. My mindset was more on a Minecraft & Skyrim tone.

    • Sea Vegetation - Adding in basic vegitation for things like sushi would go a long way. Things like corral, seaweed, kelp, and etc to line the lakes, oceans, ponds, and various water spots. Ignored in Skyrim while adding some interesting atmosphere & resourcefulness in Skyrim. Even harvesting shell-based sea-life would be interesting to spot.
    • Sea life & Whales - Go crazy with adding whales, bigger fish, and even foreign water-based entities. Adding life to these would be awesome while also using as resources. Could even be tied in with boats and weaponry for another source for resources. Things like oil, meat, and exotic goods.
    • Shell-Based Entities - Adding in shell-based entities to smack off submerged walls, sea-floor, and on the coastline would be handy for those sea-based survivalist. Even as an 'exotic food' for those creating cities on servers. Would have to make sure that you can harvest them to grow them, farm them, even grow them in size. Oysters being the main with less known shelled for the wall-covered blocks. if they can even attach themselves onto boats then even more respect.
    • Shipwrecks - Doesn't have to be fancy, nor does it have to be shipwrecks 100%. Can be as simple as shells of ships, weapons, decayed containers, and even ships themselves. Era of shipwrecks could be randomized from wooden to iron based. Simple merchant ships & explorer ships. Anything more complex could be left for modding.
    • Water-sided Natives - We should be able to find humanoid natives visibly farming, even going out boating and back. When you leave and come back they should even randomize their position. Bonus points if we can barter with them.
    • Boats & Effects - During stormy conditions one should find themselves in foggy-stormy conditions that may even find themselves having their boats crystallize with ice. Knocking ice off the boats in cooler climates should be a must. Having chests in boats is a must. Being able to walk on boats should be a must.
    • Modern Boats + GPS - Modern era boats should have an updating computized map of the region they visited. Merchant ships, if they shall be added, should have an interactable map by adding icons & lines. (Silent Hunter 3 as example).
    • Small-to-Large bodies of water - Don't be shy. If you populate the bodies of water nicely we can tolerate Minecraft's cursed 30,000 block ocean biomes. I shall be more than happy to sail from one 'Empire' to another Village or trader's in a boat of ancient or modern era, even if it takes a day. As long as there is sea-life, and boats have chests, then I shall gladly welcome small & massive bodies of water.
    • Fishing Rods + Fishing Nets - Fishing rods already confirmed so I'd suggest we should be able to craft human-sized fishing nets to gain a bonus at a penalty cost of needing boats, gear, or even needing to stay at the cost. Needing swimming gear + net could somehow balance it out with the fishing rod.
    • Damaged Boats To Wrecks - Damaged boats should turn into wreckage at the bottom of the water. Could break it apart piece-by-piece to salavage, or can leave it there to see the underwater wild-life reclaim their domain.
    • Boat Types - I'm expecting simple wooden boat & a luxury sail boat. Nothing too fancy from that. Anything more to be expected from mods. Even simple canoes and other types of simplistic vessels. Any 1+ person boat should also carry storage compartments, even canoes. Being able to carry goods is a must, and a gripe in Minecraft for not being able to do so.
    • Submarines - Suggested this with it considered positively. With deep bodies of water one needs submarines to explore deeper, even as a diving bell to gain at the resources. No breathing potion, more of a realistic form of underwater & above water transportation. Maybe even for hostilities.

Well.....No rush. Just as long as Red shows signs of care, and when we find ourselves needing to go fishing, even setting up trade-routes using ships then that would be awesome. Also, just so you know, I'm more focused on welcoming ores now so I don't mind if this takes forever. I'm curious to know what kind of ores we're getting, other than iron, to haul and hoard. Interested in ways we can even display our hauls.

    1) I would love to see seige engines would be neat. If they can be implemented to attack the planned dungeons then that be even more awesome.
    2) Not sure if we all shyed away on this....I guess we agreed collectively to keep it to TNT type damages. We didn't want nukes and such. I guess if they're kept to something we can easily control, and the AI also, then that should be neat.
    3) With the recent update I'm all for bear traps. If they can't be given a 70% of attack on sight then I really REALLY want bear traps.
    4) Wolves! Of course! They're a must in these types of games, and I would love it if they howled at night at random. Not all the time, just at random. Granted, they'll be just as annoying as they would be in Skyrim.
    5) Tiered armour and weaponry, even variety I'm all for. Customization is key in these kinds of games so I do hope Red even implements the statue copy of your avatar at a point that I suggested a while back.
    6) Sure, if we have entities that attack structures. Once we have mobs that can attack man-made blocks, then sure. Also agree with different when mining them back up.
    7) Luckily we're getting guns along with 'bows & arrows'. I'll be having fun with my bows.

    --------

    1) NPC Villages are now a must. No way to get around this now! With the vast world you MUST have these. Glad Red is looking into this at his own pace. I also hope we can barter with them, even make comrades from their bunch.
    2) I want variety in ores also. I'm a hoarder and a displayer so I want to hoard and display my findings. Luckily we have ores coming in the next update!
    3) Can't wait to see what other mobs we have added, or if any of our ideas shall be used in the fictional settings in this game.

Deleted that previous posting to update my thoughts. Seeing as how ores are in the next update is now making me wonder if we can have a way to display ores. This isn't Minecraft so I doubt we can make those typical blocks so I was thinking more along the lines of tree stumps for the 'castle' age; Layered glass cabinets for the 'modern age.

Sounds awesome on the tool display, I shall happily make use of that. There are players that are quite boasty & showy (myself included) so would be awesome if we had some sort of furniture option to allow us to display stuff. I guess even those display cases found in Skyrim with how you can lift lids up and place stuff. I'm sure I can get crafty also, just that items also tend to despawn. Having a furniture item show items in their raw state would be nice.

Now wondering how one would go about proudly displaying their wealth in their own versions of throne rooms; Modern and ancient.........

Nice, nice! (Can I still suggest bears having a 70% chance of attacking vs 100, or am I just being silly?)

Ores coming up next eh? Nice. Making me wonder if it'll be a handful, or going all out; If treated like food update or adding it gradually. Nice! Keep up the good work. The itch is growing with me now wanting to have a way to showcase ores obtained. Can't wait to see.

Keep up the good work & thanks for being awesome!

Oh, interesting responses. #2, 5, & 6 caught my attention, even with the ore mention. So once ores are ready then we can start to loosely expect biomes. Not fully, just loosely. Nice. I'm forced to wait anyways so no rush on what's planned for release when.

    2) Hopefully we're not forcing it down in Red's throat, just that without NPC Villages & NPC comrades the game shall feel as ghost-like empty as untouched Minecraft, or even Chernobyl itself. Having NPC villages for that vast of a world that's planned should be a must, and high on the list. Maybe not in priority, just in things to be added whenever given the chance. Feel free to do a contest for the villages, towns, and etc to then copy and paste those designs for when they're ready. As for NPC villagers themselves? I don't mind if they do simple bartering through randomized offerings and givings (Thinking Timber & Stone, Civilization trading but simplified, and just offering up a random list of what may find in the general area) to give to the player and NPCs. I'll understand if you want to keep the complex stuff to mods, which then I hope someone shall go all out when that & modding is ready.

2.5) Bonus points & respect points if going all out by making NPC villagers build using the items player gave them through bartering trade. Even more if we can befriend them into "pet" type comrades. You don't have to, just that it would fit this Rising World perfectly due to scale of it all.

    5) Basic inventory keepings? Hope we can have a slider for that. Would be fine for others. I'd love to do corpse runs instead, though would be nice to release some slack for those feeling stressed while constantly dying. Pickaxe, wood axe, compass, and clock hmm...

    6) Ya, I don't want the option not being able to lose items. Looking at #5 makes me cringe with this just hitting the wrong note. Losing your inventory, but doing corpse runs is what I'm now conditioned and used to doing. If this was Starbound or Terraria then I can understand, which Rising World isn't. I shall however agree that it should be a difficulty thing. Since being conditioned by Minecraft and other survival games that one should actually be careful when surviving, not being spoon fed & having hand's held. Of course, "each to their own" with people having different play styles.

    -------

Ya, sorry for popping up everywhere. Wanted to post 2, 2.5, while also personally making note of biomes now 'possibly' arriving once ores are settled. Should be fun and can't wait to see in a patient manner :)

If we see that avatar in the game things shall really be spooky, Ozzy :P.

Hope I can suggest that bear attacks be 70% possible. Have that aura of fear when you're unsure if you're going to be attack or not heh. Wolves & Tiger would be an interesting way to be attack. Same with the natural diseases and such that Red was toying with adding.....Thirst, hunger, being too hot or cold, and possibly even sick from being stung by so many mosquitoes. Well, that is if the route Red wanted is true....Going to be a crazy survival game with those in mind.

    Spooky indeed.

Alien plants and fruit eh? Would be awesome to have those come from crashed alien wrecks. Red could choose to do this with it truly being an alien crash of it happening over time, or you able to find a long-crashed ship to loot from. Finding seeds and alien texts......Going a tad bit Star Trek with it.

Nice update also. Also, from what I noted down from what Red had planned (dated two months back):

    - Food -> More Food R2 -> Hostile Entities --> (Possible actual spot for R2 foods W/ Bakery) -> Ores -> More food R3 -> Biomes -> More hostiles/water/oceans -> Birds/NPC Traders/Flying Entites ->

The first food is down so I guess we're getting more food? Plans change so I guess the second food can be after the hostile mobs then. Ores then after the food, and anything else that I saw Red note two months back. Lost track of updates so not sure anymore and not really worried about what Red will do. When I see an update then that means things are going well

Still waiting on bakery though. Baking things....I guess that's the stuff after the hostile mobs.

I'm now curious and wanting the flying entity type. Reminds me of all those Lilith entities I've seen in Anime, or in fancy drawings. Same in the "Devilman Lady" anime that's now ancient. If we can at least get that 'hybrid' entity into the game then that Hell biome shall be a fearsome place to be due to flight & how we could even suggest them to be possessive of entities for random amounts of time. It's up to them & Red. I also love that 'toad' entity that would pop out iwth a body then drag you in. That would spice things up also. Nice thoughts.

Haha! Deranged weapons. I wonder if we all would be willing to insert wired-lances (search up weapons from Phantasy Star Online 2) and anything trippy down below in Hell. To give it a proper use (other than a place to spawn upon death; To be killed by your dead 'clones'; And minerals), I would love to recommend what Ozzy just did, but with 'phantasy' armor & weaponry, just in a corrupted hell theme stuck in tricky manners to obtain.

Could go all Skyrim with the weaponry for those that desire those 'soul gems' or whatever from that game down there, or even keeping it regional by only having them effective down there. Wired claw lances would be amusing though, if the combat is going to be revamped to fit this game appropriately now that we have hostile Bears, Mooses, and Goats.

I guess it would be trippy to see your dead copies with your customizable accessories on there, even more so if they're modded accessories. All the sword types all stuck in the Hell world for you to fight, if you so choose, to make your way out or your way in or some challenge.

Hell was already added so not much we can do there. You can choose to go down there, or you can simply stay top-side. People's fears going to end up paralyzing time the more they fear Minecraft when comparing this to that game. Also, I don't mind some fictional monsters in the tone that Skyrim did it. If Rising World can keep it like Skyrim then all is good.

No worries. Didn't mean to guilt trip, just that it's easy to miss things seeing as how we're all focused on our own thoughts and suggestions XD. But yes, it would also assist with having people take care of their characters more. Doesn't have to be in easier modes, though it can be wedged inbetween hard & hardcore for those that want to use it, or even as simple as a toggle option. I always saw my host purposely die in Minecraft that it just annoyed me instead of munching on food so this should work against that to care more for your avatar.

To add to this - Would be interesting seeing clones of yourself in hell on any other setting. Taking care of yourself and then coming across your own self below. Would be interesting.

The "Mod Furnishings" remind me of my day in Star Wars Galaxies MMO. I love the furniture style with me now wanting to see it in the game. Been a fun run with me playing as an Imperial back in the day in SWG and wouldn't mind having some trigger items to recall SWG related memories heh. Trigger in the meaning of memories recalled through seeing similar objects & items allowing you to recall selective hidden memories. I'd assume those would be in the modern Age.

Those shrooms....What was that second Coruscant planet? Corelia? Those shrooms remind me of the life on that Corellia planet. It's not Talus, or whatevr...it had another C in the front. Fun sketches. I of course would love to see both those in the game <3

No teleporters? I agree, but if it's for 'nostalgic' or 'archive' purposes then I wouldn't mind a photobook or a computer picture album to 'dive' into to view such. But ya, no teleporters.

Terraria? I totally forgot about that game. Well,.....I was thinking still in Minecraft terms with how a portal was intended to corrupt the landscape. Was still thinking the same thing that if you used Hell material above ground that it would simply 'infect' other materials over time, like dirt...just not as fast and irritating as in Terraria.

But ya, still wanting to remention that there should be a feature that when people die that they should go to hell (A difficulty right under hardcore, or a toggle) so they can slay monsters below and build their way back up. It seems to be ignored, or easily missed and last time I shall mention it. On the next as anything hell bothers me.

Forgot to mention that "Hell" should try and invade over-world biome when you play with their material. It should actually spread like dirt does in Minecraft to eventually ruin people's day. To mend the issue would be to slay the creatures & to tear up the landscape, disposing of the material in whatever manner you see fit.

To add to this: would be awesome if we could have NPC humans to focus on tearing up any heavily corrupted landscapes by focusing purely on hellish items, also disposing of it in their own little world behind the curtains.

HellStone? I guess. I did say to pair up Hell with difficulty so when you die on something below 'hardcore' that you would instead spawn in Hell to force your way back up instead of world being locked out for good.........More valuable gear.....Could, but then that's what dungeons are for. Note sure what the Trios have planned.....Not sure what to suggest even as it's still fresh of a game.

Awesome. At least someone here kept up with drawing. I got annoyed and stopped because I couldn't do things as nicely as yours. Keep it up :)

Ooo! Now that be a nice place for them indeed. If they can be programmed to hunt at certain times (maybe through percentage) then things should be overly awesome. Just hunting in random I guess.

To hell with the annoyed players. From my experience you should just add them in or else the game shall be boring & bare. Add them in and have your fun with others needing to adapt. Sure, they can toggle it but that won't be fun. Having them in would add to an interesting mix, also roleplaying for those that roleplay.

Would be awesome to also see more of your furniture furnishings. Post more and it just might inspire Red and pals to emulate such beauty into the game. Feel free to post up :)
