Blueprints are gone again

A new update (0.9.2) is available now!
Latest Hotfix: 0.9.2.1 (2026-05-12)
  • My blueprints are gone again!

This happened before in the last update.

I do have a little more information buy not sure what to make of it

I started to get "steam cloud conflict" issues

I went into steam cloud and found out they were hanging out there!!!

No clue why, they are the only files steam decided to backup

No I just have to figure out how to download them besides one by one!!!

  • I'm sorry to hear that! This sounds like Steam Cloud deleted the files... Unfortunately it's out of our control, this is entirely handled by Steam :/ The game does not even have access to the files stored in cloud (so it can't offer a way to restore or download them)...

Steam Cloud syncs the blueprints folder and the worlds folder. It tends to cause issues if you're playing offline, for example, or if Steam is shut down while it's still syncing the files.

Sometimes it's recommendable to turn off Steam Cloud (unless you really need it, e.g. because you're playing on multiple computers) because it can sometimes delete or corrupt your files...

Unfortunately this doesn't help for your current issue. If they're still stored in cloud, restarting the game (or maybe restarting the Steam client) might trigger a cloud download, so the blueprints might get restored (but you also risk losing the files if you start the game) :(

  • This is a general issue when using a cloud. It can happens also when using Onedrive (of Microsoft). You have always to create a back-up that you keep seperated offline and certainly a fresh one before disconnecting.

When you go out the cloud, after restablish the connection the cloud will sync with the filemap on your computer and 'thinks' they have the last version of the files. Your last gamefiles are replaced and files that are unknown to the cloud are deleted. If you choose to use the Steam Cloud, your choice is irreversal. You have to follow the correct procedure to disconnect (or stop entirely with Steam Cloud).

In case of Onedrive it's intentionally: if you don't want to use Onedrive or not want to pay for more space; you get a kind of 'punishment'.

I did not ask to use the cloud! I disconnect it then it seems every update it reconnects itself!!!

It's unfortunately enabled by default - this is how Steam handles this as soon as a game has cloud support... the game does not change this setting. But you can turn it off per game and also globally in Steam: the per-game setting can be found when you right-click on RW in Steam -> Properties -> General -> turn off "Keep game's saves in the Steam Cloud". To turn it off globally, click in "Steam" in the top left -> Settings -> Cloud -> turn off "Enable Steam Cloud".

So if Steam keeps turning it on automatically, I'd recommend to turn it off in Steam globally and also per game.

Well this is a new one my single games are missing also, which were NOT backed up no biggie because they were just my test world.

I'm sorry to hear that, but honestly it's still a bit weird that Steam Cloud seems to delete so many files that frequently in your case... this is definitely not supposed to happen. Unfortunately Steam Cloud indeed sometimes messes up files, but this still happens rare, and usually under specific circumstances (e.g when mixing online and offline sessions). So maybe there is something else going on that causes the file loss in your case?

The only thing I can think of is three different people use this machine. That is why I turn off Steam cloud. It would start having sync issues after a couple switches so I shut it off. I think when we get an update (not blaming you, it is more steam) they turn sync back on. I forget about it and...

The good thing is it does not look like they actually delete the files just the index. I turn sync back on. Got in the game, checked the files and they were there. Quick as a bunny😁

  • I got the same issue very recently, and this indeed happens if you play offline. Hopefully your blueprints (and world liek what happend to me) are still in the game files, if so, it may help to go online again, and play the game, if that doesn't work, just drag the blueprints out of the blueprint folder, start the game, quit, and drag them in again will fix it maybe... (if your files are still in the game). But, always turn off steam cloud on this game , even if you play always online, it is just way more safe to keep the files in your computer...

  • Regarding this issue, if the blueprints are still present in the game's directory but disappear IG (only), that happened to me too. However, it wasn't really a problem: if you click the cross next to the search box, all your blueprints reappear. I assume this refreshes the list.

Nope they were out of the folder. I think they got interrupted mid sync. Once I turned sync back on I got my BP back. I then turned it back off.
