Some Minecraftlike mechanics

    The abilty to build your own electrical circuits would be nice, implementing switches, electrical generators and other possible mechanics for automatisation, minecraft like.


    I like this game, but adding these things would make me love it. After all it's like minecraft just way better graphics.

    I don't know about that. RW goes way beyond where MC ever though about going.... and the separation is getting wider every update.
    Now, does RW need a few things like 'electricity'? Of course. (Thank goodness we're gonna use wires instead of 'dust' to transmit power!!)But those things, and more, are coming. It's only Alpha.

    Going through the Steam forums I read that we'll eventually have functional computers and TVs. If so, that be interesting. I'm as stumped as the developers so I"ll at the very least try some brainstorming to see what could be done.


    - TV Wise: Add in some pre-made clips as basics while even accepting .gifs. Allow people to upload .avi files onto their server (host side) so people can watch certain things. It should be up to them how much they should be able to stream while only capping the speed and size to something semi-bandwidth friendly. SP should be fine as it's straight on the computer, though sized down. Loosely thinking GTAO here with how you can view pre-recorded videos.


    - Computer wise: Allow for cached bookmarked pages to appear. Something like copying a bookmark into a folder for the game to read, maybe double-check, and even make use of. Even give it the ability to read from the screenshot folders (A seperate option for online servers) to view images. People could place their own images if desired. Can also use .gifs, and maybe even .avi files. Should be able to stream/play music files also. Even .FLAC & .ogg files.


    I'm sure you guys shall figure something out. Basically summed up the GMod stuff, and very loosely on the Minecraft mod stuff. It's only a spark in thought.

    I think maybe if an in game camera was implemented, the proposed TV could be used as a monitor in a CCTV like set up. (Like the camera system from Space Engineers).

    Yes I would much prefer the tv could accept a feed from cameras in the game (otherwise people will just watch porn.. or GOT, instead of playing.. lol). Add antennas to use for broadcasting the signal. People could create their own INGAME tv shows. Just need an ability to switch which camera is sending the feed to get different angles etc..


    Also with the antenna, you could use it to broadcast a signal to your house to keep an eye on livestock in the next valley or something like that, or for enemy players trying to sneak up on ya. Somewhere a wire isn't practical for.

    For the computer, same thing. I see no need to connect to actual internet stuff. Prefer it to be related to RW stuff. Controlling an automated greenhouse ventilation system.. stuff like that.

    I agree with the security camera idea. I'd actually set it up to also load up chunks. I would try and have them set up in both close and far off distances to monitor, and probably keep things growing depending on the importance of biomes and etc. To possibly keep an eye out on monsters and such. I would happily build antennas and wireless devices to track of stuff. I guess the TV itself is now solidified as an idea.


    I agree with ZaCormyr over the fear of porn and such while also disagreeing at the very same time. That's going to get close to the North American nanny-state stuff going on (you slowly can't go do outdoor activities & sports because politician have too much time to whine and moan) so I simply want Rising World to go all out with its ideas. Just accept it the European way (topless woman, and maybe man, in European news papers; Probably changed since 2003 & 2008) without censoring anything because you'll end up shooting your self in the foot the North American way, and the Japanese way pixelations & nice-boats. It does more harm than good. Hearing about how films now have to either go smoke free or lose their "G" rating for having smokes in the movies is just harmful due to the 'nanny-state' mentality. I don't want to play PS Home type game that's all sterile with blue-blooded thinking of covering trees with protection so you wouldn't get scratched up. That's just insulting.


    With that card played I'd say remove posters ( I want it to stay) because you can make a +18 'swimsuit' art gallery. Does more harm than good, and I guess that's why Minecraft never added customizable paintings. They were going to, just never did. But in the end it just harmed the game with mods covering it so we now seek games like Rising World.

    You have a good point there ArcticuKitsu, it would be best left open and up to the players to decide what content they show on their tv's. Leave it up to the server admins to determine that stuff. I just thought it easier on the devs to control things more. But you're right, shit has gotten out of control over here, mostly in the states but more and more here in Canada unfortunately.


    Same for the posters, leave it up to server admins to deal with. Remove people that are not following server rules. There will always be servers which don't care and actually want porn and offensive stuff.


    But that means giving server admins power to deal with this stuff. Which I'm sure isn't much of a problem.

    Ya, I'd leave all the moderating to server side because if you try moderating it yourself you'll only be stepping on feet while doing harm to yourself and the game. Granted, there should be times where the trio should step in to hammer down any overly corrupted servers. I wouldn't want to see nanny-state type enforcement being added which would simply turn Rising World into Minecraft's tamer side then into PS Home of sterilization. I'm getting irritated by seeing Canada trying to ban outdoor ice rinks, sliding down hills, and general snow activity fun. Basically what I said in my previous post. It makes just as much sense as making then pixelating porn, or sun-glaring every violent scenes in movies because parents can't raise their kids properly. It gets nasty.


    I guess I should just wait and see what they have planned. Being able to stream videos from Youtube should at the very least be allowed. I seen it in Second Life with me at least wanting to share it with others when not wanting to spam through Skype or something. Having a big theater only linking to Youtube, computer wise.

    Limiting it to youtube might be a decent compromise. But that still won't be enough for some. Or many.. lol


    yeah don't get me started on the direction Canada has been headed... but what other path could be taken? It would be different if Canada was an ocean away from the US. But it's not. Anyways. still one of the best places to live IMO. I can't seem to leave the west coast rainforests...

    would love if it implemented under your desktop so that when you puled up a program on the computer in game it would actually pull up a game on your computer.. ... load netflix on the computer sit on your couch and watch it lol

    I've been seeing a nice spike in people creating computers in Rising World that it would make sense to add it in, even if it's on the list to be added eventually. Being able to watch Youtube (at the very least) with you needing to wirelessly sync your GPS Tablet mapping device would be most welcomed, of course later down the line when it's ready to be added. You walk around with the Tablet (making sure it's charged) to then stand in the spot for you to right click and map it out. This tablet should then be able to sync up to the computer either in wireless or USB manner by right clicking either. What you have on the tablet should be what you have personally mapped out while the map on your computer should be all of it synced and updated together, obviously having one chunk being outdated and another synced up.


    Tablet contains your personal (more updated) experience while the computer itself should be more of an archive device allowing you to view a size-friendly, yet high-quality map. I know I said this before, it's just that image above and it seems appropriate for this thread itself. Sorry, and hope someone has a better idea if this is poorly thought out.

    As for the +18 issue, that just became a big issue on the Steam forums with everything having to be sterile clean. I'd say keep it as you would with posters, being able to view screenshots (from the game & same way you do with posters), Youtube videos, and that map idea to archive and view. Just don't be a troll by ticking off parents with kids by posting +18 pictures on the Steam screenshot tab. That got messy and I acted like an idiot trying to draw a middle line, in stupidity.


    I don't know anymore because I don't know what should be the norm anymore. What should be considered appropriate and what not because North American and European minesets clash, as does dated knowledge you once grew up with.


    Again, I'm going to wait for how it's implemented, just felt like carrying the two over, probably in bad taste again, or poorly worded.

    The way I feel about posters and the possibility of uploading videos to RW is that it is at your own discretion and the discretion of the servers you play on, on what you upload. If your some horny teen that cant get there hand off your junk while playing a game so you put naked posters all over your world that your business, but if you go on a server that wants to be family friendly and you put porn on there server. They have every right to ban your ass, and or report you. I think that admins should be able to see what is uploaded to the server and if they don't like what they see I think they have the right to punish you as they wish on the server. I think that we should still have the right to upload what we want and we should not let some immature players ruin the way we decorate or homes and bases.


    I do think that being banned should follow you around for a while so that other admins on other servers know that you could be a problem player. I don't think it should be permanent but I do think it should follow you around for a while maybe on your name tag or something.
