Update 0.8.5: Fishing, clothes, thunderstorms and more

A new update is now available, introducing fishing, climbing gear, clothes and more!
Latest hotfix: 0.8.5.2 (2025-05-01)
  • Of course, they are dry storm in the real world, even in summer in my own region in southern Europe. But its not what its pointed here. I have clearly mentioned a clear sky. Dry storm occurs only with a cover one (without rain). Here, it's just an unrealistic occurence of lightning and thunder in a perfect sunny blue sky

It's called Bolt from the blue, it's a real thing.

  • Thanks a lot for your feedback :)

Not only is the lightening a problem the shaking screen is worse!

I see... we've added an option to disable thunder light effects with the latest hotfix (this will also turn off the shaking) ;) To do that, go to the settings menu to "Miscellaneous" and scroll down. This option is almost found at the bottom of the miscs settings.

But I imagine my bay may be freshwater ...? I guess I will see.

It depends on the connection to the sea. If it's just a narrow connection, it's often freshwater. If it has a lot of contact with the sea, it's typically saltwater ^^

Oh, idk if this is a bug, but chickens are laying eggs while the game is paused! Just confirmed it.

Oh, was the game really paused (i.e. ESC was pressed to bring up the menu)? Or did you just alt-tab to the desktop? The latter basically only stops the rendering process (for energy-saving reasons), but most calculations still go on in the background :)

I just found a bug though. I can't eat cookies. The animation and sound work, but the cookie is never eaten, and health is not restored.

That was unfortunately indeed a bug, but it should be fixed with the new hotfix ;)

I have noticed lightning in a clear sky in an arid biome. I'm assuming this is stormy weather in temperate biomes. That can be fixed in a hotfix or than need more work to implement local weather ?

Oh, thanks for letting me know! It's interesting to know that this could apparently happen IRL CursedXistence , but it was not intended :saint: I will change that with one of the next hotfixes!

But i noticed, what i think is a bug. I was inside, door closed, a thunderstorm was going on with heavy rain. Impressive! But my avatar did make sounds and started to shiver indicating i had it cold ? The perceived temperature was 30 degrees. I think when it's a thunderstorm the system doesn't notice that i'm inside ? The behavior was typical for if i was outside in the storm.

Hmm... was it maybe just the brief camera shake that occurs if a lighting strikes nearby? 8| If it's temperate related, the game will always show the blue temperature icon in the lower right corner of the screen (but that seems to be unlikely if the perceived temperature was 30°)

  • Another small hotfix (0.8.5.2) is now available btw :) It fixes a few bugs, but also changes the recipe for the fishing rod (which now requires iron instead of aluminum). For this hotfix it's necessary to update multiplayer servers accordingly.

    Hotfix 0.8.5.2 (2025-05-01):

    • [New] Added options to disable thunder light effects (see "Miscellaneous" settings)
    • [Change] Fishing rod now requires iron instead of aluminum
    • [Change] Destroying objects or blocks with dynamite works more efficient now
    • [Change] Destruction caused by dynamite is now covered by the "undo" console command
    • [Change] Destruction caused by dynamite is now covered by permissions (multiplayer)
    • [Change] Saltwater can no longer be filled in canteens or waterskins
    • [Change] Greatly reduced spawn chance of special eggs
    • [Change] Reduced loot in fishing bags
    • [Bugfix] Fixed campfires emitting no light
    • [Bugfix] Fixed invalid items from fishing bags
  • But more fishes will be added over time.

I'm glad to hear that :) Will be Sharks?? XD'

That's definitely still in the works and will be added with one of the next updates :)

Great to know that now, that update are the one I be waiting more than others :P thanks for all

Only thing you can do atm is to use the renderworld console command - this renders the currently loaded world (depending on your view distance) from a top-down view and stores it as a screenshot on your hard drive.

I already try it, I'm done taking some captures via that method, all in high quality [I think 8000x8000] and too on normal quality [1000x1000, 2000x2000].

I'm fine with that but I had the trouble on zones where the world have a considerable amount of buildings or nature [trees, vegetation, etc].

I don't be able to cover all the zones where I am working that world [are focused I one BIG Zone].

What happens are... No matter if I use a low quality capture [1000x1000 per example], or a high quality shoot [8000x8000]... The game freezes on that work, and basically crashes [the CPU say the application still runs, but nothing happens). When that happens the only way my PC returns In control is closing my session.
