Update 0.9: Points of Interest [EN]

A new update is now available, introducing "Points of interest" and many more changes!
Latest hotfix: 0.9 (2025-11-04)
  • Oh, lol, that's weird 8| Does that happen in singleplayer or multiplayer? So if I understand correctly, there is no correct riding animation, instead the player is just running when riding a horse?

It's singleplayer and yes, my character is standing on top of the horse and running/walking while the horse moves xD

Edit: I just tried to make a new world for the sake of testing and the animation is correct there...that's interesting

Edit 2: I spawned a new horse by console in the affected world, the animation is now correct

  • Unfortunately, not yet... I did exactly what you said, I even logged out and restarted the PC...
But now even the lands don't appear anymore.

This is definitely a bug, I will try to fix it with the next hotfix :)

bug: The Knight armor is bugged becasue nothing can damage you if you wear it, bears and bandits do not deal 1hp damage when wearing it....

Thanks for letting me know, it's definitely something I will change, probably with one of the next hotfixes :saint:

Another observation: Entering any coordinates/x,y,z positions in the "Editnpc", "Move npc" menu, relocates the npc immediately BEFORE applying the change.

Oh, that's actually intended ^^ This was meant was a preview of the new position (similar to hitting the move buttons in the menu)... but if you hit Cancel, the npc should go back to the original position.

Can you add a timer for fireworks?

Maybe this change makes it into one of the hotfixes, otherwise the next update will introduce that option (it will definitely be ready in time for New Year) :)

Hehe, I found the culprit: it seems that riding a stallion, i.e a male horse causes this bug  I will fix that ASAP!

  • Another hotfix is now available btw, fixing a few smaller issues ;) This update is optional for multiplayer server, but it's still recommended to install it.

Hey red, will you ever consider making transparent chests that show the objects in the chest? Also the items(visible from the outside) would have to be small...Ya know something else that would be cool when you dive into the electricity update would be to make a chest observer with a digital screen. The screen will show what is in the chest!

That is cool - but not being able to "pan around and looking" makes it a bit confusing. All good. Keep up the excellent work. Cheers!

I'm afraid this his might introduce a few issues... if there are lots of items in a chest, it might cause performance issues... but the biggest problem is probably to display the items properly in the chest ^^ Some items are quite big (e.g. the scythe), and scaling it down to fit the chest might look a bit weird. And unless there are only few items in the chest, it could be a visual mess :silenced:

That's a good point! But on the other hand, if there is no preview of the npc position, it might be difficult to make precise adjustments (especially via the arrow keys in the menu) :saint:

Perhaps an option in the UI to display only a few objects? I was hoping the object(s) could appear 3D. That would be cool!

I'll have to experiment a little with that :D

I want to put a lamp in my boat for night trips.

This is on my to-do list, but unfortunately I have no ETA for that yet... :|

Dont know how correct place this is. But I will ask quickly. Will there be ability to hold lanterns in hand? Wanted for some time something between cheap torch and flashlight to hold in my hand in caves.

Hehe, it was always my intention to add this, but unfortunately it never made it into the game... the biggest issue is that it feels weird if the game constantly suggests to place the item (i.e by showing a preview of the item in front of you when looking at walls or the ground)... ideally we need a separate button for placing the item (or more precisely, for enabling the placement mode), but actually this functionality will be added with the next main update (so maybe I could also add the ability to hold lanterns in hand) :)

  • We've just released another hotfix btw ^^ It adds a few smaller new features, but also fixes a blueprint-related crash and the broken reporting tool - so if you run into any issues now, you should be able to use the report tool properly (to send a report, open the console by pressing ~ or ` and type report).

Posters can now be turned into "Billboards", forcing them to always face towards the player. There is also an option to set a timer for firework rockets.

We've also added some settings for controllers and added a way to disable certain input devices. If you're running into any problems, please let us know :)

This update is optional for multiplayer servers btw, but highly recommended!

    Hotfix (2025-11-04):

    • [New] Firework rockets now provide various timer options (hold F after placing them)
    • [New] Posters now have advanced settings (hold F) to turm them into billboards or to enable a smooth surface
    • [New] Objects optionally have a "Billboard" and "BillboardVertical" attribute that forces it to always face towards the player (see "edit flag" command)
    • [New] Added various controller-related settings to "Gamepad" settings menu
    • [New] Controls settings now have an option to disable certain input devices
    • [Change] Improved loot in frozen arctic chests
    • [Bugfix] Fixed broken animation when riding horses (stallions)
    • [Bugfix] Fixed sporadic crash when equipping blueprints
    • [Bugfix] Fixed reports sometimes not working correctly
    • [Bugfix] Fixed sporadically missing grappling gun sound
    • [Bugfix] Fixed lights placed via blueprint having a wrong color (does not affect already placed lamps)
    • [Bugfix] Fixed ingame map showing no terrain (need feedback)
  • Oh, that's actually intended ^^ This was meant was a preview of the new position (similar to hitting the move buttons in the menu)... but if you hit Cancel, the npc should go back to the original position.

sorry the video is so choppy. but this is how i handled moving NPC's via plugins. maybe somehting like this would be better for moving npcs with editnpc.
