since you are going to eventually add electricity how about some oil. which than can later be purified into gasoline to work in generators to run the electricity and put in to vehicles to help them run. the basic way to obtain it is dig down to oil and scoop it up in buckets. you can also add in things like pumps to suck it out and fill barrels. they can run off of a steam engine that is fueled by coal or wood of any kind including logs. can be made with iron. with this said it starts to get more complicated where you can add in new things like combining 2 metals to make a new one like bronze and steel. and so much more. i got plenty of ideas for ways to improve the game. one of them would be to make crafting a little more complex.
you will be adding electricity and vehicles. so add some stuff like oil to go with it.

Oil pockets are planned. There will be a type of Industrial Crafting system eventually so i imagine running pumps from oil wells would eventually happen. Probably need dynamic water first before we can drain oil wells however.

There was mention of oil being found in deserts (later on), plus vehicles shall be added after horses & camels. Trains (of all kinds) shall be added once those are ready. The only flying thing confirmed seems to be a hand glider.
Electricity is also planned, yet was said to be after all the vehicle stuff. It shall come after everything (or so was implied & said).
I'm just hoping we can have alternative fuel sources so when oil runs out we can keep using farmed goods to run our vehicles. Solar powered, electric vehicles, and the like. Even converting gas vehicles into electric ones via part component swapping. I tried suggesting this a few times yet unsure if it's been noted or not.....

Perhaps if more ore types are added, we can eventually craft solar panels and battery systems for overnight needs. We need some kind of chemistry station first I'd imagine.

regarding electricity how about
coal, Oil, Geothermal, bio, water, wind, solar and maybe even wave, nuclear and fusion power plants
and a bit like electrical age from minecraft to make it more realistic electrical-age wiki
i think electricity needs it own major update or two

I am not sure that electricity is normally produced from biomasses and geothermal sources. Don't they usually generate just hot water?

Geothermal yes ...... you use the steam that you get by boiling water with magma and such
