Just wondering if in the future it's gonna be possible to actually see the boat while you're traveling in it? Right now it looks like your character is flying over the water surface as you can't see any of the boat. So that's not very realistic.

Hmm... what do you mean exactly? Basically you should be able to see the boat while sitting in it
-
I watched a video of radioman03 on YouTube trying out the row boat. And when he used it, it looks like he's flying over the water. You can't see any of the actual boat like in your photo.
-
he must have turned around to face the way the boat was going
-
Yeah, I saw the video too and I have the same problem... Ofcourse if you're rowing your boat you wont be able to see where you go... unless you can row backwards O_o
For gaming purposes, it wouldn't hurt to have some kind of indicator to show where the bow is. I notice when I look around I can't see the bow at all. Maybe this is something that would better be solved when 3rd person perspective is added. Then the camera should face forward while rowing. Really tho I don't see this as a big deal however. I can figure out my direction by making small course corrections and monitoring the direction the shoreline shifts as I move forwards
Rowing begins at 14:50

- Basically when u row the boat, this should be what you see, in the direction you're traveling. The way this game works, it's like the character is facing the back of the boat (stern?) I've rowed a boat forward before in real life. This is what I saw. Maybe it's different over there in continental Europe. But when we row boats here in England, it looks like it does in my pic.

Rowing boats/ships since ancient times had the paddlers looking towards the back of the boat/ship.
This is for practical reasons as when the commander is on the back (where the wheel or the rudder is) and looks towards the front of the boat to steer it and make sure it goes in the right direction he can see the faces of the paddlers and give instructions to them.
See image below (commander in red, paddlers in green):

rowing facing the back of the boat also yields a stronger stroke as you can press with your feet as you pull with your arms there by using your complete body strength to move the vessel. a canoe you paddle facing forward though or a kayak.

Seems a bit strange to me to sit facing the opposite way to where you're going wether it makes rowing easier. On any game where you drive/sail you see the direction you're facing. On rw the guy sits facing the wrong way.
-
maybe add a gondola. I know there were medieval boats that you rowed forward looking too
-
uhm i think i understand . the first pic is what we have and the other what you want ? ?? but in the middelage for example, the small boats are with manpower, or some to sail with the wind only. in holland the bigger boats was to pull sideway on small roads near the rivers with cows , horses, or donkeys
-
-
So I guess what we are learning here is that it depends on the boat on how you row it?
-
same problem on the roads in england, everyone drive on the wrong side of the road * tsts *

Just looks weird to me, that, you're on a boat but you can't see that you're on a boat. You may as well not have the boat and activate fly mode and fly over the water on the water level. It would look the same. It's like the boat is there, but when you get in it, it's not there anymore. The camera just moves where u tell the invisible boat to go.

Can you please post a screenshot? as in red's post above you can clearly see the boat the player is in

Basically a boat has a bow and a stern. I think he means he sees the stern while rowing, and in RL this isn't correct.
But actually you can row a boat in two ways.
