Update 0.9.2: Animal Breeding, Item Placement, better Controller Support [EN]

A new update (0.9.2) is available now!
  • Thanks for your feedback! :)

awesome ,thnxs , always love an update. I have old boots in my inventory :P

Hehe, thanks for the feedback, I'm glad to hear it's fixed :D

Questions about the animal breeding. Which animals are breedable at this time? I got the male and female sheep in an enclosure, so I expect to see lambs ... at some point?

Currently only pigs, sheeps, cows, goats, horses and wolves are breedable ^^ Once taming is implemented (with a way to tame wild animals, too), we will expand this to other animals as well.

But yes, if you keep a male and a female sheep in an enclosure and you spend some time in their proximity, the female sheep should become pregnant at some point ;)

but will the goat also give milk?

Not yet, currently there is only cow milk... but sheep and goat milk is also planned ^^

However, I can't tell the horses gender at all. Will the horse models get "a makeover"?

They're a bit more difficult to distinguish... the only way to find out is to pull up the horses' skirt :saint:

Also, I don't think there are roosters in game yet? I do have hens though and they drop PLENTY of eggs!

No, unfortunately there are no roosters yet... breeding isn't implemented for chickens yet, they just drop eggs randomly^^

I did see that in a chest the thumbnails for blocks are messed up, and in the crafting menu the thumbnails for the window frames are also stretched and in chunks (messed up!).

This was unfortunately a bug, but it should have been fixed with the latest hotfix... does the issue still occur?

Also, we're gonna need a fridge!

Yes, definitely, once food spoilage is a thing, we will also add a fridge :D

    - Placed item can't be stored in blueprints. I tried to create a naturalized tuna (screenshot) and the fish don't be in the blueprint.

Yeah, unfortunately items aren't stored in blueprints yet... but it's on my to-do list and maybe I can add this with a hotfix ;)

    - That would be nice if the needle of a placed compass alway indicate the north, regardless of rotation.

That's a good point, I will change that

    - The behavior of the personalized palette in the "Select a color" menu (right clic of paint roller...) has changed for the worse: When I try to select a color, it is now replaced. Its possible to restore the previous (normal) behavior ?

Oh, thanks for letting me know! I will check out what's going on there!

    - We can't take back in our inventory a placed butter churn if we hold use key, like for others workbenches.

That was not intended :saint: I will fix it ASAP. But in the meantime, you could try to remove it with a sledgehammer.

    - Placed items are mainly used for decoration, and should not take back as easily than a dropped non-peristent item. It could be better if we should hold use key rather than to do a short push (same mechanism as for workbenches).

Hmm... yes, that's a good point. Maybe holding F is a better solution for this (or having to press F twice or something like that). I will think about it.

    - That would be nice if placed log have a rough (cylindrical) collision box. I want to use it as support for anvil, and its very strange without collision box.

Oh, does it mean it has no collision at all? :wat: I will check out what's going on with it!

    - I'm not sure about this yet, but some items placed online last night (wood log under anvil on Medieval Realm) have disappeared this morning.

That's weird =O Please let me know if this happens again

  • Another hotfix is available now btw. It fixes a missing respawn option and a crash when using the "Play with friends" option. It also possibly helps with the blue screen issue (not to be confused with a BSoD) on some GPUs, but we definitely need more feedback (this issue isn't fully fixed yet, as there might still be a brief blue screen when starting the game).

This update is optional for multiplayer servers.

    Hotfix (2026-05-01):

    • [Bugfix] Fixed missing respawn options after dying
    • [Bugfix] Fixed crash when loading a world with the "Play with Friends" option
    • [Bugfix] Possible fix for permanent blue screen on some GPUs (need feedback)
  • Oh, does it mean it has no collision at all? :wat: I will check out what's going on with it!

Yes, no collision at all, no matter if the log is resized or not.

That's weird =O Please let me know if this happens again

The old logs have reappeared, but a new one have disappered. Maybe a synchronization issue with the server ?

  • About the blue screen, I have not tried it out yet (I am in the train right now😉) but I am pretty sure it is a bug with the game light, because if you walk really close to blocks, you can still kinda see the block but really dark. The other reason I think it is something with the lighting, is because the colors are also messed up when I use no upscale, everything looks more Grey and brighter, like I am using different shaders lol. And the other thing is that the blue fog/world only appears when I use the recommended upscale, while with the other upscalers Or with none, the background in the pause menu becomes blue, and when you are just in the world, there is no blue anymore, but the lighting is messed up like I said... But as soon as I am home, I will try out if it is gone😉

  • Really love the update, especially the animal husbandry! Looking forward to the addition of roosters and more food recipes based off of animal products. ^^

After messing around with the update, I have some feedback and questions real quick:

    Potential Bugs:
    - Non-bred, domestic cows are producing milk. They haven't birthed any calves since I have been playing, but their milk supply seems endless (testing with three separate cows under same conditions).

    - Domestic animals seem to attract their wild counterparts, which causes massive amounts of animals to congregate around my "animal pens". Killing them off only works temporarily, as they respawn and/or migrate back very quickly.

    Current Update Feedback / Questions:

    - How long do cows produce milk for? Is there a limit in how many buckets of milk they can produce in a row? Currently, the milking interval is insanely quick, with milk replenishing almost immediately after being milked the last time. It would be nice to have a cap or a slower replenish time - something for balance instead of infinite milk from a non-bred cow.

    - Having an indicator to determine if an animal trusts you enough to breed would be lovely. I've been sitting in my animal pen waiting for my sows and ewes to get pregnant, but to no avail. :(
    - Is there a space limit required in order for animals to breed? Could be my pens are too crowded to allow for breeding.
    - Are offspring colors determined by parents or do they spawn as random or default and roll their adult colors on age-up?
    - Is there a specific breeding interval cooldown? I would love to have the optimal male-to-female ratio so the male can breed with all females by the time the first female can breed again.
    - Other than the pig (assumption based on photo), do all animals produce litters or only certain species?

Future Animal Husbandry Update Questions:- Will rabbits ever count as a domesticated species?
    - Will goats and sheep differ from cows in terms of type of milk or quantity produced? Or will they essentially be the same?
    - Will there be a way to store milk in containers (like milk cans)? Tried using barrels and cauldrons, but it doesn't seem that they don't support the milk as a liquid.

    - Will domestic wolves have a purpose?
    - Will animals missing colors be added? Such as black ram / nanny / cow or white bull? Will babies have colors too (like the calves) or just the adults?

    - Will there be some way to consolidate eggs in the future (like a constructable nest) to help prevent egg scattering / limit lay rate?

    - Will hens eventually lay colored eggs based on their own colors (like real life) vs random rolls? Ex: white hen = white egg, black hen = brown egg, brown hen = blue egg

Thanks in advance! Very much looking forward to the next animal husbandry update :D
